    Does anyone use it?
    Is it a better grip?

I suppose knowing what your pulling would help.

Should probably just PM Vis, hahaha :)

The mixed hook is the strongest grip I reckon I used it for awhile until Hanley mentioned on here that it would be inviting a bicep tear. I thought about it for a few minutes and figured he was right so I went to back to regular hook grip. Regular hook grip is still more than secure enough so not really losing anything by using it.

Plus people think you are just double overhanding then and you look badass :pac:

Would ya not try double overhand hook grip for a while and see how it compares to mixed grip.

I find hook grip means I never worry about my grip. I couldn't say the same when I used a mixed grip.

Only thing is the hook isn't really suited to lots of reps or touch n go reps, tears your thumbs off.

I neither do lots of reps nor touch and go.

I don't think i want to mess with a grip that isn't definately going to be stronger at the moment, i'll see. Thanks.

    Why though?

Try it with a not so heavy weight and see for yourself.

And if that doesn't convince you, see how many big deadlifts have been pulled that way.

But what huge regular grip lifts have been done without straps?

Check out this video of Derek Poundstone (26:48) , three reps of 765lbs, alternate grip.

Brad Gillingham has pulled somthing like 40+ competition deadlifts over 800lb w/ a double over hand hook grip.

Koklyaev's pulled 400kg x3 double over hand and hooked.

    The list goes on.

I don't think he knows what a hook grip is.
