Weight wise, start off with something comfortable and move up from there. As for how many reps, how many of what?

What are your goals exactly? The more info you provide the better response you'll get.

by lose weight do you mean burn fat and slim down?
im in the same boat and have been advised to get on the threadmil and rowing machine, with some light weights to develop muscles.
on the threadmil/ rowing machine do it over time(about 30 min) not a distance(so you see improvements every in distance, as it takes about 20 min to start burning fat), then some weights.
About an hour a day in total day on day off

you dont have to run for half an hour, for the first few sessions walk/light jog for half an hour then up the pace as you feel you can, my first session i covered 3.6km in half an hour(i knew i could do more and got a little pissed off), second session i covered 5.2 and today im going to aim for 7km in the half hour. i might not get there but im moving the goal posts every time.
