I predict that by 2020, liberals will be trying to wipe out all references to gender.

I predict that by 2020, you will no longer be allowed to refer to the gender of a person in an official sense.

The precursors to this are all around. Recently they are putting "parent 1" and "parent 2" on passport forms so as not to offend homosexual people.

Because males and females are obviously the EXACT SAME IN EVERY WAY, and having a daddy and a daddy is clearly no different from having a mummy and a daddy. And if you raise questions about it being and describe it as a totally unnatural thing you are branded a NARROW MINDED HOMOPHOBE FROM BACKWARD IRELAND lol.

The reason given for this: Because males and females are the exact same in every way. Nobody should be treated differently based on whether they are a male or female, and if you say that there should be genders, you're sexist.

Why it's a bad thing we should not allow: Because like it or not, genders ARE FUNDAMENTALLY DIFFERENT. And saying "he" or "she" is a natural thing, it is a way of distinguishing people. It's one of those things that can be very hard to explain, so get prepared to be called "sexist" and "narrow-minded" a lot if you try to argue against it...

Of course many people will continue to refer to gender informally, but not in a formal sense. And after a while they'll be considered as "sexists", just like how white people who use the word "****" or even "chinks" are considered racist even if they are just being friendly and "cool" and those people call themselves it.

God I hate liberals, they are such dimwitted fools.

    A) Your post is one that an idiot might make, by referring to all liberal minded people as dimwitted.

    B) Bodies are different, but in todays society, both sexes are generally capable of most things the other sex does outside of the physiological side of things.

    C) Are you saying 2 gay people can't raise a kid as well as 2 straight people?

It a derogatory term for people who post ridiculous things on the internet.

I can't see why anyone would have an issue with parent one and parent two on a passport application form, does it cause you to lose sleep?

Males and females are not the exact same in every way but the differences are biological. You can raise questions about peoples gender but it's is posting stuff like this that will have people consider you a NARROW MINDED HOMOPHOBE FROM BACKWARD IRELAND.

'Why it's a bad thing we should not allow'? Again genders are only fundamentally different ways people are taught to express themselves. Why do you express the need to argue against it?

The last bit just makes you seem like a narrow minded racist from backward Ireland.

Here's a better guess at the logic of that situation:

    Straight couple:
    Parent 1: Tom Jones
    Parent 2: Mary Jones

    Gay couple:
    Parent 1: Tom Jones
    Parent 2: Jim Thomas

    Ok, that all works...
    How about the other situation?

    Straight couple:
    Father: Tom Jones
    Mother: Mary Jones

    Gay couple:
    Father: Tom Jones
    Mother: Jim Thomas

Result: Annoyingly and unneccesarily inconsistent and inacccurate.

In short OP, I'm not even asking you to change your views on homosexuality, I'm just asking you to consider practical logic before ranting about a load of bollocks

    So to review...

You make a nonsensical statement and then proceed to attribute it to "liberals" and then you go on to tell us why that makes you hate liberals...

Given this course I can imagine by 2020 you'll be living under a bridge somewhere ranting to yourself about conspiracies against you.

Why shouldn't the law be gender neutral?

Why should it be ok for one gender to do something but not the other?
Why should one gender get special treatment in some cases but not the other?

We are not "the same". But we ARE supposed to be "equal". As in, we all have to follow the exact same rules and we all receive the exact same penalties for failing to follow them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,481 ✭✭✭Fremen

Don't call them liberals unless you're a yank.
You've confused political correctness with liberalism. Moreover, you've failed to distinguish between economic and social liberalism, economic liberalism being traditionally associated with right-wing parties.

Right-wingers are equally capable of making needless, officious demands. It's a bit juvenile to call people who don't share your opinions "stupid". You should recognise that there are people smarter than yourself on the "other side", but that from your point of view, their ideas are misguided.

What you're doing at the moment is equivalent to writing "Duuuuuuhh.... they're stooooopid".

This has been touched on in previous posts but OP, are you aware that sex, sexuality and gender are three entirely different classifications?

Sex: Biological differentiation between males and females
Sexuality: Pertaining to sexual preference, gay or straight etc.
Gender: The means in which society and culture perpetuates the differences between masculine and feminine.

Thus: Gender, as opposed to sex and sexuality, is constructed by ideologies and society.

Firstly: Your obvious lack of knowledge on this matter just shows how ignorant and ill-informed your post is, making it in mine and many other's opinions: invalid.

Secondly: Why does this particular issue annoy you so much?
    A) Do you live in America, where this is occuring?
    B) Are you the child of a same-sex couple?
    C) Are you in a same-sex relationsip?

    Or is the answer D?

You're a homophobic blowhard looking to latch on to some event that gives you a platform to spew your bilious crap?

I cannot stand how people who are in no way affected by these issues feel the need to get up on their soapbox and rant and rave.

    Ugh.

I couldn't care less if you call me a cracker or not. I can't even imagine how I would get offended by it.

The words n!gger and cracker are worlds apart. A cracker is not associated with slavery, oppression and being a second class citizen.

But PC is getting silly. Black boards, lollipop man / lady etc. I hate when people look at you for saying some is black, white or asian.

    As in:

    you know Mick from acccounts?

    Nope

Mick..about 5.8ft with the black hair and blue eyes

    still nope

He has a bubbly personality and enjoys the odd office prank

    .....

Listens to the beatles a lot and plays table tennis on tuesday

    not ringing a bell

    He's em...of African Descent

    Egyptian Mick?

No..he's not egyptian from somewhere else in Africa

Ah Mick the black guy who sits on the left hand side of the office!

OMG! You cant say that...thats soooo racist..

What.. cant say that he's black?

    NOOOO

But he is...same way I'm white and that souless freak over there is ginger

I'm in the USA and I'd guess the OP is here too. The uneducated use of the word "liberal" is straight from fox news and is used more as a buzzword or insult. Its not necessary that the user understand its meaning.

Hence the confusion it arouses in non-americans as we ponder why someone living in the liberal western world would hate "liberals".

Basically if you hear the word "liberal" being used derogatorily then its probably being used by someone like a sarah palin. Someone of limited learning.

I'm in the states too, and granted New York (where I live,) is not really indicative of the rest of America but I do agree that political correctness has gone a bit far.

It sickens me that the word "liberal," has been subverted into something negative. "Liberal Bias," "Liberal Media" etc. They're using it as an umbrella term to insult everyone who doesn't agree with their hyper-conservative rhetoric.

*When I say "they" I mean Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly (or "Satan" as I like to call him,) etc.

Has it occured to you that it may be a money saving exercise rather than a liberal conspiracy? Instead of having to print three different types of passport, they can now just print one.

We are not all equal....where does this idea come from?? Human beings are far from equal.

Gender neutrality can't possibly ever exist just by the very fact that the genders are physiologically different....why is is such a bad thing that we recognise our differences??
