24 hour coffee shops. Yes or No?

Should there be some coffee/cafe shops be open 24 hours?

Whether it be in Dublin or whatever, should they exist.

I'm sitting here wanting a coffee and a chat with a friend who's not here and nowhere to go :(

So should some places open? Is there a demand?

Yeah, it would be lovely to be able to have more late night coffee shops at least. Like bewleys!

You know what'd be even better than a Coffee Shop? A 24 hour Pharmacy (Dublin).

Why are you asking should they be open? They're not exactly illegal to be open 24 hrs.

If the demand was there they would be open 24 hrs.

I dunno i wouldn't say there would be any demand for a 24 hour one, maybe a late night one that closes at 11 or 12

Yep, I think that would be nice as long as there was security at the door who didn't allow people who were being too drunk and loud in. There are pubs and clubs for that. It would be nice to have a relaxing, casual chilled out cafe at any time of the night or early morning.
I also think that there should be a few 24 hour takeaways. Y'know when you are at a house party, and say at maybe 4:30am there are a few people starving and there's nothing in the press? It would be handy.
I always notice in american films that the diners seem to be 24 hours, or else they are just open really late-not sure.

I don't wanna sit in a petrol station with a cup of brown powder.

I want tables, chairs and an expresso machine

Yeah, I know. Maybe read the OP

There's nothing like a caffeine dosed romantic event up against an unleaded pump at 3 in the morning. You can even froth your coffee up with a tyre inflator.

    yes,

i remember great nights drinking coffee in tribes in cork (coffee shop/cafe) until 3 or 4 in the morning, perfect place to hang out after clubs closed...etc

some nights we ate dinner there, went clubbing and then back there after for coffee and chats....

they did take away too and a few of my friends (bouncers) would meet there before their shift started and get take away coffees...

There's a couple in Galway (or was at least). There'd be a demand, but if you also had a wine licence there'd be a HUGE demand............

Dublin is not really a 24 hour city, most things seem to shut down pretty early here to be honest.

Hmmm, I worked in a coffee shop in Canada, and in summer we were open until 1am, considering how crazy North American's are for coffee I don't see how it would be financially viable to have coffee shops open here 24 hours.

The only ones that will get people in the door are the ones in the city centre, and they'd probably have to hire security because of all the scum walking around after the bars close.

I'd rather just replace the bars with coffee shops tbh.

Jurys in Dublin had a coffeedock that used to open very late. Too much hassle with people on drink/drugs, hiring security etc

No, I looked more thoroughly. I'd say wiki added it because so many people blab 'expresso' they get confused but it's definitely espresso

The problem with a 24 hour coffee shop is it would attract this shower of tossers.

    I think it's a really bad idea.

People should be in bed by 1am at the latest.

If you don't get a good night's sleep, you get cranky in the morning and nobody likes a grumpy monkey.

I realise that some people work nights, but they are mostly weirdos & paedophiles using broadband to download kiddie porn and talk to children in chatrooms in different time zones.

I'd really like there to be a late night cafe in Dublin, I don't drink and hate loud pubs and clubs so it'd be nice to have somewhere to just hang out and meet some friends. 24 hours is a bit much though. til midnight would be enough,

    Hmmm, quite.
Expresso is an incorrect spelling of the word espresso.
