What do you smell of?

First off, I'd like to say hi.

I've been in and out of here, but never really contributed, more of an AH'er than anything, but that place is driving me batty at the moment.

Now, down to the nitty gritty.

    What do you smell of?

My eau de toilette at the moment is between Hugo Boss Energise, for every day use, work and what have you, and Issey Miyake @Eau D'Issey Pour Homme. I really like the Energise as I like the freshness of the citrus, and the spiciness of the pepper, but the nubuck smell is nice and manly at the same time. The L'Eau D'Issey I find a bit more classical, with the Cedar and sandalwood.

My deoderant at the moment is Gillette something or other. Was part of a box set, and while it does the job, I'm not a huge fan of it. I normally just use a small amount, just for the deoderant purposes, and not the smell.

My showergel of choice is Mint and TeaTree (either the Original Source if it's on offer, or the Asda/Tesco varient) It just wakes me up, and feels odd/nice on my manly bits.

So Gentlemen, what do you smell of?

    Paul Smith cologne.
    Generic shower gel.
Dont use deoderant (just shower daily).
Mostly smell of cigarettes and coffee.

Trust me, this is not enough. I think it's just as well you smoke!

    I disagree though.

I don't develop BO, I rarely sweat. Even under intense work out, I sweat very little. As as result, I could get away with not wearing deo, but I'm just a bit paranoid about smelling. (I lived with a filthy, filthy person once)

It's not the actual sweat that smells, it is the microbial brakdown that causes odour. You can keep yourself from smelling by keeping cool or by using wipes as well through out the day. If you work actively then this probably wouldn't be appropriate but definitely possible for more sedantry activities.

    Floid blue and original
    Proraso after shave
    D R Harris Sandalwood

In fact just check out my sig. I go for the more traditional shaving scents as opposed to the commercial "Popular" scents. Most of my after shaves cost no more than €25 and smell great.

    Lynx deodorant

212 Carolina Hererra after shave, it's expensive, but very nice :)

Davidoff coolwater is always a winner too

My favourite scents are Boss by Hugo Boss or Chanel Allure Sport Blanche Edition (I have tons of aftershave though through gifts etc, so I have a Brown Thomas like range!)

FCUK shower gel from Boots. Pretty good value especially with the 3 for 2

L'Oreal deodorant. Got a set for Christmas but normally used Sure for Men. Either seems to do the job and trust me, they are needed as showering is not always enough! Not in you are walking/running around anyway!

Don't smoke either so I normally tend to smell well. It is the one compliment I seem to get from girls other than praise for my long, girly eyelashes :pac:

    Mitchum Deodorant/Antiperspirant

Any of either Armani Code, Armani Diamonds, Lacoste Red, Channel Allure aftershaves

Original Source bodywash - trying them all out but mint in the mornings is nice :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,512 ✭✭✭BigDuffman

    Lynx Fever Deo
    Shower Gel: Radox Energize
Aftershave: Abercrombie Fierce (same smell as the A&F shops that wimminz tend to enjoy!)

Oh purrrr! Just love that. v.v.v. irresistable.

Actually, I just love any kind of nice aftershave stuff that suits the man wearing it. Have a real weakness for a subtle, yet yummy scent.

But, the lynx is a definite no way. Eau-de-teenage boy. Yikes!

Ya,lynx is a no no.Currently using FCUK Urban deodorant, got a giftset thing of it for Christmas. Its pretty nice.

Aftershave of choice would be Le Male,Carolina Herrara's 212 Sexy Man or Hugo Boss Black. All subtle fragrances, all super nice.

    Maybe I am a teenage boy.:P
Lynx the best anti-perspirant that I have used, the rest have been quite crap.

    Any recommendations anybody? :P

Sure for Men, it won't let you down :pac:

But seriously, the L'Oreal anti-perspirant is the best I have used. Then Sure comes second. I would have to be tied down first before Lynx was sprayed on me!

Also, Chanel Allure (which I mentioned above) definitely has got the best responses from girls in my experience. Although it really depends on each individuals body chemistry as to which scent suits best.

Yes that is an absolute quality aftershave, I had a bottle of it a while back but unfortunately you can only get it in the USA as far as I know

Don't wear cologne that often but when I do I wear Diesel fuel for life

    @Baz

one of the best antiperspirants/deodorants going is Mitchum. Available usually from chemists moreso than supermarkets. Ice Fresh fragrance is the best and it really, truly works. The fragrance is light, airy and fresh. It does not go 'stale' after a few hours, and it works far better than Lynx!

I'd highly recommend Mitchum brand to anyone, simply one of the best out there!

Real men wear Old Spice and Brut.
    Everything else is for pu**ies.

I remember reading about some study about women sniffing t-shirts men had worn and being attracted to some more than others etc. I am wondering if all of you cover your natural scent, because your own scent might be sexier then what you put on. I'm all for deodorant and clean skin, but colognes can be overwhelming, and the subtle scent of say, the area right behind your ear, might be really attractive.

    Radox shower gel.
    Sure Anti-perspirant...
And I like to keep a stock of aftershaves, bitta variety is always nice!

As said before, A&F Fierce is top notch. Ya'll be knee deep in clunge as soon as you put it on!

    (disclaimer:not necessarily a guarantee)

I agree about the notion of colognes being overpowering. Some men (and women with perfume) use far, far too much. I use three sprays max and never on the face. Behind the ears and a spray on your chest/shirt should be plenty.

Smell of the farm at the moment!
    Shower gel Original Source Mint
    Deo Nivea for Men
    Aftershave Hugo Boss
Want to get armani code but being a broke student isnt helping!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 67 ✭✭905

Have to say other than some radox shower gel and the odd use of anti-perspirant, I smell of whatever I've been doing lately, usually the farm mixed with shoe polish and sweat. It's all about having a distinctive smell. My room usually smells of sandalwood so I suppose some of that rubs off on me too.

Oh god my gf hates it even more than i do! I find it very heavy and overpowering tbh, however some say the same about Jean paul gaultier fragrances.

I like it, it has a place on my shelf of aftershaves! It is one of the few aftershaves I have that has got praise from completely random girls. So I take that as a positive sign for it! Most Dior scents are actually pretty nice.
