    Hi guys,

So we're looking for people who would like to contribute to the next Noc-cast.

It's going to be done over Skype so location is not an issue.

We're going to try and have a bit more structure in the next one so we can bring guests on and off for different topics etc.

So throw down your name and what your super special area of interest is (Noc themes preferably :) )

In some other forum podcasts, people have brought topics from the other parts of the forums that they visit (cinema & television, games, general science etc) and how those threads/topics relate to the Noc forum. A nice example is speeddemosarchive.com have a charity gaming marathon on at the moment, some of those guys will be staying awake for 24 hours in a row or more playing games (they're playing Banjo Kazooie at the moment), might make for good conversation, especially when sleep deprivation sets in.

Having a topic per person (and a backup topic if the first falls flat conversation-wise) keeps variety at a high too. Don't be afraid to deviate, especially if you can segway conversation into something interesting or tie in an earlier topic. Letting people bring their own areas of expertise/interest in a limited way can be a lot of fun too, for example; getting an engineer and an art student together to break down a topic can get very diverse, interesting... and weird, to name but one combination.

Another thing i've found that works is designating a person to recognise when conversation is drifting and set things back on topic, a moderator if you will. It is essentially adding structure to something fluid and dynamic, but it helps keep things moving along a nice pace.

Variety in conversation types can be cool too, short questionnaires, timed rounds, mini-debates... all of these things keep people on their toes and makes sure nobody gets left behind in the conversation.

That was a bit of a stream of consciousness, might have drifted a bit, hope it was of some help.

Do you have a set night and time that you record these bad boys?

I know it was covered in the last one but my special area of interest would have to be milk, i just don't think you covered it in the intricate detail such a delicious topic deserves, you did not even compare the different brands available in the country!

We were thinking the next one would be on Tuesday week. So the 18th.

Id love to cover some of the older threads in the forum that should be resurrected. Ill do some homework beforehand to this end.

Also i want to talk about an idea i had ages ago for a forum (and maybe boardswide) organised pub quiz.

What specifically might you wanna talk about? Can be anything really, but the next podcast is going to be more structured than the last and a lot less rambling.

Food ALWAYS comes up in the forum. Might we have one or two people to discuss Nocturnal foodstuffs?

I'm very much looking forward to an in-depth discussion on cookies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,247 ✭✭✭Maguined

Cookies are okay but I could easily spend 30 minutes speaking about the intricate vagaries of toasted cheese sandwiches alone.
