Men Who Hate Watching Sports!

I HATE watching sports. Soccer, Rugby, GAA, etc.. I just hate watching it, I find it boring. I might watch some major sports events like if Ireland was in the World Cup but other than that I'm just not interested.

If I'm ever around with mates they always talk about soccer teams, players, league tables and all that jibber jabber and I feel bewildered because I don't posses a large amount of knowledge about the bleedin' fuseball. For instance, just last week I found out what to be 'relegated' meant. Some people I know know every little detail of matches that happened like 20 years ago and I'm totally gobsmacked!

    I just don't get it! It's boring!

Any other guys out there who don't conform?

Edit: My hate is mainly aimed at field sports (Soccer, Rugby, GAA, etc..).

I'm not normally interested in watching sports apart from if Ireland are playing much like yourself. Sometimes I will go to the pub with the lads to watch the soccerball league championship cup semi-quarter-final but not very often.

I'm sure there are plenty of men in history with as much masculinity of Chuck Norris and didn't like following sports.

what about winter olympics, everyone likes that, bobselding and that sort of ****

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,562 ✭✭✭scientific1982

I'm with ya OP. The only good sports are when people are kicking ****e out of eachother.

Likewise, have never understood the interest in any sports...
I find them all to be boring to play or watch.

Much prefer a good book or listening to good music to entertain me.
All that yob gathering just makes all men look like retarded cave men.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,653 ✭✭✭Ghandee

Was thinking of a smart ass answer to give, but you know what OP?
I'm with you on this, not much of a sports fan myself if the truth be known!

What gets me is the folk who say something like ' you dont like soccer/rugby? How long have you been gay?' Etc....

I'm wondering which is the more macho thing here?

Watching 22//30 men wearing tight shorts, chase each other up and down a field, grappling at each other, chasing balls, or doing something constructive for 90mins or so, like power wash the shed?

/returns to his will and grace DVD, and blows nail varnish dry!

I hate watching football. Find it very boring.
Rugby can be interesting at times but don't watch it often.

Although I do love watching F1 and other such motorsports such as FIA GT1 series, WRC and the Dakar Rally which is going on right now!

I was never really a big fan of team sports you could say... More into individual sports.

If you don't like sport that's cool but insulting all those that do suggests something else

Wouldn't say I hate sports but I've no interest in watching it.

Its easy to chat to football heads when your not one yourself, you just have to say something like

"Did you see that ludicrous display last night?" and

"The thing with Arsenal is they always try to walk it in"

    *edit*

People who don't allow embedding of youtube videos are pricks!

Doesn't work for me. Most of my friends in college are football freaks. Lately they've been into NFL for some weird reason!! They end up talking about what happened in the game last nite and such and I have absolutely no clue what they're on about. I just sit there listening to them at times or I just leave and find something else to do.

It's pretty easy. In a nutshell:

The people put the ball in the place and go wooo.

    Not much into sports myself.
I never can understand why some people are mental about football. Nothing wrong with liking it. Watching it. But to be so passionate about it? ... stupid.

I think as kids we grow up being mad about something. Most fall into football. Me I was into WWF

I play sports (Football, Hurling, Soccer, Rugby, Athletics) but I have no interest at all in watching them. Can be a bit awkward at training sometimes but you get used to it.

I'm with all you sport hating weirdos. Whatever about taking part in sport why would anyone watch it? Just hearing the drone of a crowd on the t.v is enough to send me to sleep.

Also, whats with playing it on consoles? You can't just head out the door and battle aliens so fair enough but you can head out and play soccer.

I used to work with a bloke who'd sit at a table of about 10 blokes all talking about football, including myself. He didnt like any sports so insisted on telling us every single day how sh*t all sports were and how we shouldnt be interested in it, then he'd go on and tell me I shouldnt be drinking Coke coz its made by some abused peoplein South America and how its bad for me (all the while drinkin heavily, smoking weed and taking drugs). Then he'd make us all sit there while he told us about some mad obscure band from the guatamala, or how some politician in mongolia is hogging all the countrys paracetamol or some sh*te!!!

    He was some pr*ck!

It's alright but do you not get bored after an hour? Twenty hours straight of fighting with fat twelve year old americans doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

Only fags care if they get powned or whatever it is. I might have been powned but I've seen girls naked and they weren't on the internet or through a keyhole or anything.

    You upgraded to strippers then?

    Cool.

    Next is Level 3.. hookers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 393 ✭✭Quiet you

Strippers? Nope. The beach and a good pair of bonoculars. A large enough initial investment but with the price of stippers today you start saving after your eighth beeewb.

    The Ashes in Australia.

Same as the World Cup in 1966.

You can't get away from it.

Unless you have no T.V. or Internet connections.

You'll hear about it for the next ???????? many years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,215 ✭✭✭Mrmoe

It's like most things in life, you have to put the ground work in to get the best out of anything. As cheesy as it sounds it is true with almost anything that you do. I don't regret the crappy games of boring football as you will always have the gems such as the superlative skills of players like Messi or Zidane or matches like Istanbul 2005. These are the things that make you smile on a cold wet Monday morning.

My brother is like that too. He has never played sports either. Well, he is very into downhill mountain biking if that counts! And going to the gym :/ But no sports as such!

Kicking a ball around a field in shorts and acting like utter wusses falls under what I perceive as ******ry. Fighting (in most forms) is the closest thing you can get to manly sport.

If I get a new game, I'll happily play it for the entire day, everyday, until its finished. If that means skipping meals and important errands, then so be it.

This guy, though his t-shirt has got an ironic reference to a sport.
