I do 5 to 6 sessions a week with a mix of cardio 3 days and weight training 3 days. However I find that sometimes I neglect my legs win weight due to the impact of recovery time taking upto 3 days

How do you folk balance your week? Running is my thing so unfortunately I'm goosed when it comes to cardio training if my legs are in recovery mode

Generally speaking I'd spend two days a week doing upper body training (e.g. Shoulders and arms one day, back and chest another) and one day on legs. The other 3 days I do intense running.

    Appreciate your opinions and feedback!

If you run regular your lower legs calves are worked, so too train legs/thighs and run also is a case of doing opposite movement too running. Do hamstring curls and thigh extensions but if you want too run nxt day do low weight and low reps,if you increase weight and leg muscle you will tire quicker when running. Also after trainning do plenty of stretching....

Look through some of the logs and you'll see how people split their week.

I do 3 weight days and 3 cardio days myself and i very rarely bring one session into the next one with me. I squat once a week but my legs also get worked on deadlifts and stiff leg deadlifts. On cardio days i'll include bodyweight squats and burpees and some plyometric work. I base my weight days around the compound movements which i do at the top of my workouts as they require my complete energy.

And if Sunday is your rest day work out your legs on the Saturday and then upper body on Monday and back to cardio on Tuesday. That's almost 3 full days rest between a leg workout and running.

Dump doing a split for a start. Do 3 full body sessions a week based on the big lifts: Squat, Deadlift, Bench, Row, Press, chins etc. . Not all in one session though or you asking to be banjaxed :) . Keep the reps lowish and intensity high, 3-5 sets of 5-8 reps.

If you start doing a decent weights program you're going to be in bits with DOMS for the first while, but once you push through the first couple of weeks you'll probably be grand. That's how it worked for me, not that I run anymore.

If you are really want to give weight training a go, think about easing back on the running for a few weeks and build back up once you have your program up and running.

What ever you do, don't believe the idea that there's no need to work your legs properly because you run.
