I agree with this, if the only thing this lad is doing wrong is helping people against thugs then I can't say he is much of a plonker, the real plonkers are the guys who see a robbing/theft and walk by like nothing is happening, even if he looks a little gay in the suit you got to give him props! :pac:

Maybe because the average Joe wants to live another day? Leave the life-threatening situations to the paid professionals ktnxbai!

The sad thing is , this is very likely going to happen.

Its definitely cheesy and one of those 'typical american' things alright that make you wanna roll your eyes etc but I do admire the intentions, but those poor bastards are gonna end up getting themselves killed, they;re walking targets.

(in case people dunno theres loads of these guys, they have websites and their own youtube promo videos etc )

You are one of these characters I so love to encounter as I pass through this world.

    Exoskeletons!!. You crazy person you.

Now sit down and shut up about plans.

It would be sorts cool though if like 5-6 people dress up like superheros and go around cleaning the streets.

Until one of them gets shot and dies though. Or gets caught and gets it up the back side...

But if done properly, they could be onto something here. But they'll not just be pissing off the druggists and the rapists but also the cops!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,808 ✭✭✭✭chin_grin

Although I do want to point out that it's a great title for a thread.

"Is it a bird, is it a plane, it's....<looks right at last poster> Sisko!".

    Brilliant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,171 ✭✭✭af_thefragile

Maybe we could do something like that and clean out the scumbags!

The cops won't do anything to them. Maybe a bunch of dressed up costume heros (whose identity stays anonymous as long as they don't get caught!) could teach the scummers a lesson!!

    Makes it even cooler!
Like Rorschach. You don't care about the cops and the law because they're not doing their jobs. You just walk around cleaning up the scum. Staying anonymous. As long as you don't get caught!!

    This guy is an arsehole.

If I lived in that town I'd shoot this fool repeatedly with a paintball gun every time he showed up. He'd get pretty damn sick of scrubbing pink and purple splodges from his gay-ass costume or having to shell out for a new gimp suit once a week.

    Wait wait wait wait wait.

You want to "shoot" this "gay guy" with your "paintball gun" so he's scrubbing <insert colour> from his costume?

Your imagery contradicts your own point methinks!

Theres apparently a whole rake of them going around. They're in a "league", but they're all ex-military with martial arts backgrounds.

Except for 2 others that the police know about, who are just chancers jumping on the bandwagon.

kick ass film lover can just see him on the street walking up to a group of 5 shifty looking lads and going ''ok you cnuts who wants it''

But they're not wearing bullet proof..............balaclavas! Oh yeah!

I'd love to see how well civilian bulletproof/kevlar equipment protects from a baseball bat, nevermind a decent caliber round. These poor gob****es are going to get themselves killed.

A real-life Superhero dressed in tights, a mask and a black and gold lycra suit, says he is helping to make the streets of Seattle safer by scaring away criminals.

The man, called Phoenix Jones, wears a bullet proof vest, and also has stab protection as well as being armed with a taser and tear gas.
He says when he walks into an area, criminals leave because they see the suit and do not want to take him on.
It is almost a case of Superman meets Batman as on most nights Phoenix walks into a comic store, enters a back room hidden behind shelves and is transformed into his character.

He has All ready managed to a guy breaking into a car and possibly stealing it.

The would-be victim, known as Dan, was walking back to his vehicle in a car park when he saw a man with a metal strip trying to open his car.
Dan said: "He started sticking it down between the window and the rubber strip."

Dan began to call 911, but said help arrived before he even finished dialling.

He explained: "From the right, this guy comes dashing in, wearing this skin-tight rubber, black and gold suit, and starts chasing him away."
Phoenix is not the only costume-clad crime-fighter in Seattle.
There are eight other members of his Rain City Superhero group who also walk the streets, looking out for crime and prepared to fight it.
Since Phoenix started his crusade nine months ago, he has been stabbed and was threatened with a gun several times, but received no serious injuries.

Unfortunately, he did not find the man who was breaking into Dan's car.
He told CBS: "When I walk into a neighbourhood, criminals leave because they see the suit.

"I symbolise that the average person doesn't have to walk around and see bad things and do nothing."

    Then you will get:

So this guy just "happens" to catch someone breaking into a bystander's car? Yeah, no possible way the would-be car thief was actually the superhero's friend and this was all setup for the bystander...

Me thinks this is their way for internet fame. No actual crime fighting going on here.

That's nothing. Check out Master Legend:

    http://www.reallifesuperheroes.org/wiki/index.php?title=Master_Legend

Also the World Superhero Registry. Some sweet deals on there...

    http://www.worldsuperheroregistry.com/world_superhero_registry_gallery.htm

My favourite is Angle Grinder Man:

    angle%20(2).jpg

Angle-grinder Man patrols by night looking for unhappy drivers who have been clamped and then sets their cars free. An odd-job man by day, he operates in Kent during the week and in London on weekends. He decided to go "full-time vigilante" in May this year.

"My obsession with wheel-clamping is actually a rebellion against a much deeper malaise," he said. "Namely, the arrogant contempt that politicians hold for the people who put them into power, and whom they claim to represent.

I can't find it now, but there was an article in Rolling Stone about Master Legend. It was kinda heartbreaking. His sidekick was a down-on-his-luck alco who's wife had left him. There could have been a documentary made about him too, but I also can't find it. I think his sidekick packed the superhero thing in in the end. In fairness, that Master Legend dude actually does a lot of good. He's just either really eccentric, or mildly insane.

EDIT: I found a link to a PDF of the article on the authors site. Go forth and read it.

Yes. He's a f*cking spanner. He's going to get f*cked over eventually and then we'll all just laugh at him for being a tit.
