Robert Knepper has confirmed the rumors that Knepper will return to his most famous role as Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell on A&E's "Breakout Kings."
“We’re done. We inked a deal," related Knepper. "I’m gonna do it! T-Bag will live again! What I realized by saying yes to that is that now they’ll entertain the possibility of a T-Bag spinoff. Like a Hannibal Lecter-type series. Or a doll line. It’d be big with the kids!”
“I have to dust off the Southern accent," continued Knepper. "I have not seen a script. I am putting my faith in these guys’ hands. The only thing I asked was that T-Bag doesn’t die. And they said, ‘Oh, no don’t worry. He won’t.’ He came close many times but managed to cheat and escape death. He’s Teflon.”
Knepper originated his role as T-Bag on Fox's "Prison Break" for four seasons. At the end of the show's run, T-Bag was the only original escapee to be sent back to prison for crimes including, murder, rape and other assorted felonies.
"Breakout Kings" was originally developed at Fox by former "Prison Break" producers Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora. After the network passed on the show, the duo were able to resurrect the series at A&E, where it has been given a 13 episode first season.
The new series follows "an unconventional partnership between the U.S. Marshals’ office and a group of convicts as they work to catch fugitives." Presumably, T-Bag will either be one of the convicts aiding the Marshals or one of their targets.
Mark Pellegrino has reportedly signed up to appear in A&E's new series Breakout Kings.
The show focuses on a group of US marshals and former criminals who team up to catch escaped prisoners.
TV Line says that Pellegrino, who previously played Jacob in Lost, will appear in the series as trained assassin Virgil Downing.
Virgil is a suspect in a number of murders but has only been convicted of one crime, the killing of a police officer. However, he escapes from a maximum-security prison after serving six years.
Breakout Kings is currently expected to premiere in March and Pellegrino will appear in the tenth episode of the series.

This premieres on Sunday 6th March:
    http://www.aetv.com/breakout-kings/index.jsp

It's got a lot of Prison Break DNA in it, so I'm hoping it'll be good.
    Time will tell.

Just seen it pilot, doing a rewatch as i type....it was actually better then i expected!, the premise is nothing new and it reminds alot of Leverage, but it did have alot of houmour....especially from Lloyd who is a great character in this!

He reminds me ALOT of Cillian Murphy, he looks alot like him + acts kinda the same in this. I also liked con artist and hottie Philly....but, she's gone!...wtf??

The actress is only in the pilot?...boo!, pretty quick paced, while the writing is nothing new it did appear to inject certain issues/backstories for each character. I might give it another look next week and see how it goes.

    Lloyd...."who farted?", lol!

It was a good episode. I know it says Spoilers but just to be safe...
Really did think the con would get away at the end. Him getting shot was a bit of a swerve.
I thought the first episode seemed very like Prison Break S4E01. Seemingly tying up all the loose ends in the beginning. I thought the original deal was also for their bids to be shaved in half. Not by 1 Month for every person caught.

Will be re-watching later with my Dad and Brother. This is giving my Mondays something to look forward to. Have had quite a gap in my US TV since Dexter ended.

Lloyd is the stand out for me so far, They are all quite strong characters in themselves and as you mentioned. The back plot is interesting.

Really enjoyed this. Good mix of characters and plenty of humour (mainly from Lloyd).

Kind of disappointed to find out that Knepper isn't a regular. I'm guessing from the episode titles that he doesn't show up until episode
    8 - "The Bag Man"
? At least (if what I hear is true), he'll be in a
    4 episode
    arc.

Really enjoyed it! Was hoping Lloyd's character would be somewhat like his character in It's Always Sunny, I suppose he is a little similar!

Any further opinions?...ep. 2 tonight and
Phiily is gone...nooooo!, stupid A&E, replaced with Serinda Swan

Look forward to more Lloyd antics!

    News:
Rumors of a 4-episode T-Bag arc are false
according to producer Nick Santora's twitter

"the Character TBAG comes back March 20th! Week after that another PB actor appears"
TBag only in next week's ep. (week from tomorrow) RT@gonomaniax @NickSantora Rumors say T-Bag's gonna have 4 episodes arc in BK is it true?

We believe the other Prison Break actor mentioned is Frank Grillo who played Nick Savrinn in Prison Break since he said he filmed a role in Breakout Kings a while back.

did they get rid of the old hot chick from the first ep and replace with a younger hot chick?

    They "upgraded" her :)

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

^ downgrade you mean, i'm done with this show. Two elements from the pilot that made the show interesting, Philly + the humour....gone from ep. 2

It jad no humour at all, Erica/Serina Swan is pig ugly + a real bitchy face and attitude.....i loathe this character!

They addressed the Pillly issue, some crap about her hiding $1.3 million and got caught, they had a very brief shot of Philly being led away in cuffs. I liked the pilot because it was a mashup of Leverage/White Collar....but now A&E pipe up and say no....we want a Prison Break clone, meh.

The humour is gone, Lloyd was crap, he had no banter....at least with Philly you could see him verbal sparring with her in the long term. It was a poor ep. 2 - i'm out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,340 ✭✭✭✭expectationlost

er the point was the she didn't spar until she exploded.

and they did set up yerone leaving in the pilot, maybe she'll be back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

Maybe you didn't listen to Lloyd... he was just as good in this episode imo.

    " Man i wish i got a nickel "

" You're black, you would have gotten life "

Watched the first 2 episodes of this last night.. and really enjoyed it!

Always thought Jimmi Simpson was a hugely underrated actor - both in comedies ('Always Sunny') and in dramas (had a very memorable guest-spot in 'House' a year or two back).

Glad to see him getting more work, but it's very hard to think of anything but a McPoyle:

    mcpoyle.jpg

Anyways.. they were fairly enjoyable. It's sort of a mixture of a few shows.. there's elements of Criminal Minds in it, a dab of Leverage and also the kidnapping episode reminded me an episode of 'The Inside' (although 'The Inside' episode was MUCH better: http://www.tv.com/the-inside/skin-and-bone/episode/436859/summary.html).

    Will keep watching!

Promo for episode 3 (T-Bag's return)....
Knepper hamming up his good ol' southern boy routine.
    Should be good!

Yeah, i've decided to watch that one....but i doubt i'll stick with the series.

Looks very corny and formulaic tripe like Criminal Minds.

You can say "formulaic tripe like CSI" if you want, but Criminal Minds is a damn good show. :)

Sorry Mr E but CSI and Criminal Minds are much of a muchness. Both garbage .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,413 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Sorry MisterAnarchy but I'm with Dave here. Criminal Minds is streets ahead of CSI.

They may seem similar from the outset, but Criminal Minds is cracking where CSI is absolute turgid muck and very formulaic!

Damn good episode - best out of the 3 so far. The last scene between Knepper and Simpson gave us a glimpse of this show's potential, and T-Bag's last line was brilliant. :)

+1 :) ....i was cringing at Knepper's OTT character T-Bag, he was bloody good though!, i don't know anything about Prison Break or the character but he was really hamming it up and totally chewed every scene he was in, he pwn'd every other actor :D

Agree about the final scene, that was intense and the best acted by Knepper....the final line was great, the smirk......

    No ****.................

you've never seen prison break RD? really? i thought you watched everything, go watch the first season its good.

    good ep

    big body count :/

    the hot chick is terrible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

Episode like that makes me sad we don't get to see Knepper in it every week.

    Best episode so far.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Ep. 4 wasn't bad, Riggin's brother from FNL guest starred and was pretty good. Sorta getting bits and bobs from each characters backstory. But like i said i think the Fox pilot was less Prison Break and more of a Leverage/White Collar mashup.

Then A&E stepped in, killed the humour and made it exactly like PB, meh!
Look....it's *just* about holding my interest and tbh...if i was on a weeknight it would never get watched here in castle Richie, it's damn lucky to be on a slow Sunday!

That Serinda Swan has the most sullen and bitchy face i've seen on tv in many a moon!....and they dumped the beautiful Philly for her?????????????????????????????

    Epic fail A&E!

    mom im down!

the humour qoutient is the same as it always was and the women cast is as they planned afaic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,413 ✭✭✭✭Basq

I'm quickly growing to love this show..

.. I mean it's a procedural but the writing and performances make it worth watching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

last two episodes have been very good, the last one in particular showing a nice gelling of the characters as a unit.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Agreed, ep. 5 had some funny bits with Lloyd and Erica, i love all the psycho babble Lloyd comes out with, Erica saying Lloyd was desperate and takes anything he can get, Lloyd.....you're good, you're very good.

LOL!...but we're 5 eps. in and tbh while i'm watching it always in the back of my mind i just think, this show isin't for me. It's the basic premise that dosen't grab me.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Still slogging through this, it's *just* about holding my attention and tbh if this was on at a time when my schedule was stuffed i'd definately drop it, but i'm giving it a shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,340 ✭✭✭✭expectationlost

not enough teen girl angst for you RD?

Ep. 6 - excellent!...personally thought that was the best of the season thus far. The team all coming together, working as one. I see the Lloyd/Julianna romance is starting to hot up, just a tad :-)

decent main plot, good scenes with the trip wire and bomb in the shelter. Some funny lines as well....Spaceballs!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,846 ✭✭✭✭Skerries

    bring back Philly!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

good ep i thought this week, really great at the end with the dropping the keys and unloaded gun.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Briana Evigan.....SWOON!, ooh man, i think she so sooooooooo freakin' hot!!!!!!!

I didn't like the ep. that much, but enjoyed the Ray/Julianna/LLoyd parts....poor Lloyd!
He stepped up though and squared off at the end, we'll be seeing more of that i guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

Another good episode this week. How many episodes per season ? This could well go down as a show with a fantastic first season but poor follow ups if they go down the prison break 22 episode route.

If they take the Dexter 12/13 episodes season we could see a lot of good seasons. Depends if the month off per catch goes up.

13 episodes... 5 to go. The last is on May 29th.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Lloyd stole the show this week!...brilliant lines, especially the Star wars refrence :-) (which Julianna got!).....tbh without these two i'd give up. But Ray has some pretty good zingers of his own.

It's proceadural, but the witing, pacing, and characters are a step above the usual fare.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

Good episode this week, sets up nicely for the finale which i think will be as hinted Shea trying to make a break from it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,713 ✭✭✭Cianan2

The finale is a few weeks away, though?

Thought that was a great episode. I love Erica! Just sayin'...

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Four left, pretty confident it'll get a second season.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Yet another solid ep. - yer man from Being Human US was great, everything i've seen him in thus far has been ace. Secrets out!...yup, they all know Ray is not an agent, and we got the reveal of why Lloyd got such a long sentence, writing prescriptions and a girl OD (and died?)....solid ep., some really good lines once again.

Erica is slowly growing on me, i wonder if anyone will do a bolt in the finale?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

that was a good episode. Feel really sorry for Lloyd after finding out what he did, wonder how long that keeps him in for.

Really enjoying this series. It's kind of a 'leave your brain at the door' type show, for lack of a better phrase. Which is fine by me. I dont want to be thinking too much when I'm watching this show. Just watched an episode of Hawaii-50 there (another leave your brain at the door' show) which starred the actor who plays Erica. She's wasted on this show! If you saw the episode, you'll know what i mean ;)

Any word on whether or not they are renewing it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭SDTimeout

Hands in face moment when he had the knife to her. Really thought she was going to die tbh.

    Fantastic episode.
