I'm sure there will be some more detailed and technical replies but I've had mine for about 6 weeks now:
    Pros
    Can record to hard drive
    High Def, HDMI out
Can use as combo (with digital RTE aerial & Freesat)
    Pretty easy to use
    Cons
    EPG is poor
Cant watch other freesat channels if recording, but can watch aerial and vice versa (I'm sure there is a way around this though!)

It's the first receiver I've had so I cant compare it to anything else but overall I'm happy with it!

so can watch freesat channell if recording another,so would be the same for aerial recording ,is it worth 175 euros

would the Mvision HD 300 Combo NET with CCCAM or edison combo be better option as far as recording

I have to say, I would be a bit harsher about this box. There's no doubt that the picture quality is good and the fact that you can combine DTT and FREESAT is good.
But the (very) poor epg and flaky recording would make me not recommend. The recording (I have a 250gb usb drive plugged in) sometimes works and sometimes not. Then if it does record you may not be able to list the file.
Looking at this months 'what satellite' the mvision 300 combo shows as a good package...but note that the DTT tuner on it is standard def only. (freesat is hd)

First off it does not combine Freesat - it combines the free to air signals from 28.2 without the 7 day epg that you get on Freesat boxes. You only get now and next.

Secondly it is HD on the DVB-T (DTT) side. It will work perfectly with Saorview including RTE 2HD. You must remember who wrote that article and where it is directed at. (The UK - who use DVB-T for SD and DVB-T2 for HD). We use DVB-T for HD via MPEG4 H264 L4. That box and its predecessor the HD200 all handle HD, they use the common processor on board for both the Sat and Terrestrial tuners.

The Mvision plays Divx files as well.

Interesting point which I wouldn't have considered. Hard to consider everything when your new to the world of satellite tv. Thanks for clearing that up.
I'm at the same stage as KeltickNighTT as I've sort of given up on the Opticum as a bad buy so want to get something more reliable.
I was also thinking about the ferguson (usb on the front oddly enough) or edison, but they are already discussed here - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055833936&page=2.
Also wondering about some of the Technosats discussed here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=155181
And I found a review on the mvision (albeit a UK one) here http://wotsat.techradar.com/techzone/test-zone/mvision-hd-300-combo-net-23-12-10

Did you purchase ?? I have to wait a few weeks yet. Talked to a colleague who got the mvision and he spoke highly of it. Occasionaly stops recording for no apparent reason but apart from that all good.
