Raw carrots are really nice and have very little fat, afaik. Also melon - delicious and very inexpensive!

Don't worry about the fat content, it's the sugar that causes the vast majority of problems.

Second the melon, I couldn't belive how cheap they were, I've picked them for 20c in some places  and delicious to boot!

It is never and has never been fat as the problem - its the sugar, carb and total calorie intake thats the issue.

You could pick a fat free yoghurt that has the same number of calories as a handful of biscuits which means weight loss is not going to happen purely from a calorie perspective.

Exercise more, improve food quality, decrease calorie intake, eat MORE good fats, eat good quailty protein (meat, eggs, fish etc) and then have a look at total carb intake

    + 1 they're lovely.

I made a batch the other day Dominic, cranberries are the tastiest ingredient yet!

Can you recall what you had in your ones pre Christmas? I'd like to make a batch of them if possible, would buy them in a shop!

Oat cakes/Ryvita with Hoummous or almond butter are pretty yummy. Or you could stick some sugar free jam on them for a sweet fix. Meridian do some good jams made of fruit only, with only 30g carbs per 100g which is alot less than the 60g+ in standard jams.

Hmmm, I followed the receipe on the site, just weren't as nice as yours. Will make more at the weekend, throw in some raisins & less chocolate I reckon!

Finally fished out all the ingredients for this, how many portions roughly do they make as like you I'd nearly eat the whole batch!

Back on topic try some sugar free jelly maybe as a snack. I used to be a strictly low fat person to drop the weight but now I found fats are important, as long as they are good fats. Best snack is a handful of nuts though, good fats and slow releasing energy to keep you fuller for longer.

in an attempt to answer the OP's query rather than lecturing about carbs vs fats - try roasted vegetables, or make your own savoury potato slices or just chose low fat crisps / crackers there are plenty out there (not saying these are healthy btw)

have made the paleo bars on several occasions now. they're great as a snack - however, i wouldn't agree that they are delicious !! i followed transforms recipe exactly as per youtube clip. i've since added in some sesame seeds which i like - must try the cranberries.

like all recipes you have to tinker with it to suit your tastes but everyone i have given on to loved them except a batch or two that just did not turn out right,

I put some vanilla whey protein into my last batch and again came out great for me but some clients did not like them at all

+1 - I tried that batch and they were genuinely very tasty.

The first batch I made was okay, second I added cranberries and some cookies & cream whey and they were a lot nicer. It's all about finding what you like providing you use foods that are good for you.

My next batch will have cranberries, seeds, raisins and less chocolate.

Normally I'd prefer to go more chocolate but for some reason I just don't find it as appealing in the Paleo bars and would rather go for seeds of some sort.

Just made these bars, they are savage, very hard not to eat the whole tray. I made 9 bars out of the recipe. Fair play Dominic!
