Spot Reduction, in my honest opinion, is a myth. The only way to lose fat is to do it through proper diet and exercise, both cardio and resistance, which will help lower body fat throughout the entire body.

The only way to achieve your goals is through hard work and a high intensity. Anything else is just a gimick, (see Shake Weight videos on Youtube:P)

    Thats not good advice.

Speaking as a person who has(and is losing) a large gut, telling someone with fatty arms to lift weights is like telling someone with a large gut to do sit ups. Unfortunately, it doesnt work like that.

I developed a big gut(btw I use the phrase big gut because I really dislike the phrase beer belly) when I was about 18/19. Someone suggested doing sit-ups to get rid of it, so I started doing situps every day. I kept doing them until I could do 300 in one sitting, and nothing changed. If anything it got bigger. This is because you can not spot-reduce fat. You can not focus exercise on one area to make it lose its fat.

If you do, all you do is increase the muscle beneath the fat making the problem look worse.

You want to know how to have a draining board-esque six-pack? For the most part it is not not developing your six pack muscles, it is reducing the layer of fat that is covering them.

For the OP, it is a sad situation, but the only way to lose the fat on your arms, is to lose fat on your body and it will go away. Look at your diet, look at what you drink, and with mostly patience and a bit of work you will lose it. Good Luck op!

Edit: Odin_ie beat me to it, but it is nice to see he, for the most part at least, agrees with me.

acuctually the bigger the muscle underneath the fat the more fat that muscle will burn so lifting weights combined with cardio is a deadly combo I should know ive been training 10 years ive been 18stone solid muscle 10% bodyfat and currently im 15stone the best way to burn fat in my opinion is to completely cut out carbs for the first 2 week living on a protein based diet then gradualy introduce carbs back into your diet so the 3rd week you want 80% protein and 20% carbs it is important not to bring too many carbs back into your diet too soon or you will just blow up like a baloon, losing weight takes time and good discipline, but you can do all the weights in the world and wont shift the fat as stated above you need to do cardio also, but without weights you can do all the cardio in the world and not look one bit toned, weights assist fat loss immensely it is a common misconception that lifting weights will make you big and manly, do you not realise how hard it is to build muscle here is some diet advice

breakfast= boiled egg whites with a protein shake (whey protein)
drink atleast 3 cups of green tea perday
lunch= tuna, any fish fillet, chicken boiled breast, turkey, quorn chicken pieces,
you may chose one of these :D and use them in a salad without dressing use lemon juice if needed if making a veg stir fry use flax seed oil or olive oil as both will help assist to speed up the metabolism
make sure to take your fish oils every day basically this tells your body that you dont need to hold on to the hard to lose fat to put it simple
dinner= small steak with mushrooms or again salad

make sure to east small and often and if you can try split this all up into 6 small meals a day main thing is give up sugar sweets try stick to this if you can do this for a couple of days get back to me and il tell you more foods you can have im just sick of typing lol

also i find boxing great for losing fat and if not your cuppa tea then running combind with cycling is a deadly combo

if you can cycle for just 1 hour it will burn fat for up to 8 hours after
and remember you only need to train 3 times a week rest can be just as important

Building muscle might make the area look 'bigger' but there's no chance it's going to make it worse.

If this person has somehow ended up retaining an inordinate amount of fat in one area, why is it assumed that they'll lose fat evenly from all areas? Isn't there a good chance a serious diet will leave them lean in other areas and still with a relatively greater amount of fat on their arms like they have now?

hence me telling her to lift weights to build up the other areas although i find it hard to beleave some one has only fat arms and skinny everywhere else as you usually lose the weight from the top down, its usually the mid section guys have a prob with and thighs and ass for the ladies, i think in this case its just the fat on her arms are really annoying her but she can live with the rest, hope this does not come off as being offensive :) if it really is the case of only fat on the arms then plenty of boxing or boxercise should sort that along with some resistance weight training

There could be other factors such as age etc, if you've lost a lot of weight then it could be sagging skin.
Localized fat is a reality my dad has deposits of fat on the back of his neck..I kid you not.
