I'm getting a new laptop (just waiting for delivery now) so I was hoping to give my current one to my folks. I have the disk that came with the laptop (XP Home Edition SP2) though my computer is currently running on XP professional after a PC technician wiped it in February and installed XP Pro since I couldn't find the disk at that time.

Now it has slowed again and has little space due to lots of program installs. I was reading up about a clean install here and I saw about the APCI section. I don't understand this part of the process and I was wondering whether anyone could give me a complete walkthrough. I also need to know what else will need to be installed to have it up and running again fully.

I think you might be over complicating things.

The disk you got with the laptop whould do everything for you automatically. I assume it is something like a Dell Recovery Disk.

Just put it in the CD drive and boot from the CD
