Broken toe?

I dropped a large metal case on my foot over a month ago and it's still slightly sore.

Due to a lack of finances and a medical card I decided to avoid doctors and hospitals. While it has improved dramatically, the top of my big toe is still a little tender at times.
I've kept off it as much as possible, only walking to the shops and the occasional gentle walk in the country to keep my sanity.

Anyone have any advice on recovery time or how I should deal with this?

i had a broken/cracked bone in my big toe. i never got it checked. when i first injured it playing soccer it was sore to walk for about a week. after that it was fine however for the next probably 8-12 months it was extremely sore if it got a knock even a slight knock if i wasnt wearing runners. say for example if i was in bed and sort of pushed the inside of my foot against the matress lying on my site it would really hurt for a few seconds. i would wrap it playing football etc. and it would hurt but only if i had to toe poke the ball at any stage.

so basically my advice (as far as i know we shouldn't be giving medical advice) would be go see a doctor. BUT if you don't have the money or can't be arsed (because it will heal itself unless your bone is like sticking out of your foot :P) then i would say wear 2 pairs of socks for a month and if you are doing any physical activity wrap your foot to protect it. callous bone will form over it but you will need to protect it. my foot is perfect now but it was pretty bad for 4 months and offish for about another 8. it was only a hinderence for about 1 week to normal every day life, however. sports wise it will be sore for quite a while!

Hey OP, the advice you are best off seeking is one from a trained professional, we can't diagnose or give you treatment on an internet forum.

When you have the 50e at hand - go to a GP, the sooner you get it seen to, the sooner you can begin recovery for it.
