    Hi,

    Hope someone can recommend something.

I'm living in Ballinteer and looking to join a gym. I just moved to area so not really familiar with gyms in area.

Basically I'm looking for somewhere with good cardio & weights area, free classes, parking, clean changing facilities. Also somewhere not full of posers!

I've checked out Total Fitness, but avoiding as it's full of work colleagues... I'd rather not go there!

    Thanks
Oompa Loompa doompety doo, I've got a perfect puzzle for you

You couild check out Westwood in Sandyford/Leopardstown as well. Also a smaller gym would be Meadowbrook in Ballinteer. Depends on your goals though, Meadowbrook would have more machines then free weights.

I'm using Meadowbrook, and am very happy with it. They've recently added more free weights to the gym, so the only thing they're really lacking now is a squat rack.

I live in Ballinteer and go to Energie in Rathfarnham. It's the former Jackie Skelly gym opposite Nutgrove.

On the whole it's good for what I use it for. The changing rooms are clean, the pool and jacuzzi are (finally) well maintained and underground parking underneath is free. It gets busy after work, but I've never been waiting for any of the cardio equipment. The weights area is spotless, with a decent selection of resistance equipment. I haven't started free weights yet, so can't really advise. It does look well stocked though and kept neatly.

I'm not too clued-in on classes: there are definitely some free classes during the day, and until 6 or 7 pm. Other than that, they've a few classes after 7 that are paid. But you'd have to check that out.

No idea of the price at the moment, but I think you can get a free guest pass. I'm not sure how much the prices have gone down since the old JS days.

Body Health and Fitness is in Sandyford, not too far from you. Small enough place but they have everything you need and the lads are sound.
