Joining a gym

Firstly Hello & Merry Xmas :)

Due to my sedentary life, I decided to join a gym again. Currently I am 21, around 5.5-5.7 ft and between 97-103 kg (Obese :().. Daily diet goes a bit like this

Breakfast: Nothing usually, except a coffee and cigarette. Also sometimes, I'll get the odd sausage rolls in the morning.

Lunch: When I'm in college it's either the famous chicken fillet roll, or Burger King, chocolate bars, coke (lots of it).

Dinner: Mashed potatoes, eggs, sausages, chicken breast, most usually. And of course in the weekend order from the chipper. Now my biggest problem is the coke and sweets combined with sedendary lifestyle (sitting at the pc all day).

I would like to know where to start, because at the moment I've no idea.
If going to the gym regularly, what supplements to take.
What should my workout be more based on ? Cardio, Spinning etc.

If you have anything else to add, please feel free to say it.

    Thank you.

first thing would be get your diet under control and don't worry re supplements - cut down or out totally all take-aways, sweets, coke, choclate bars, suasge rolls.

start eating breakfast, porridge & fruit & drinkning loads of water all day.

lunch - make your own, brown wholemeal sandwich (ham, lettuce etc).

Dinner get your veggies in (greener the better) with lean chicken, meats & fish.

Whilst getting the diet in order start exercising, cardio & weight training - start walking 10 mins a session increasing by 2 mins each session. Get a program in the gym lifting weights - start squating, deadlifting & benching with low weight.

OP, the most important thing for you right now is to learn about nutrition so that you can clean up your diet, as well as learning about cardio and weights. For that you should read the sticky on the basics here in the Fitness forum and on the Nutrition & Diet forum.

You gotta wanna change or ya wont... I was talking to a woman today who lost 7 stone last year and within 11 months gained it all back... noway do i wanna end up like that.
