Just click on the Sale banner and that brings up the press ad for all the key deals that'll run in the press on the 26th. Just to note, the Sale prices will all download to the individual product pages on the pcworld.ie tomorrow morning. I think that i3 deal is a stunner if you can stretch to it.

Includes Vat. We've absolutely loads of stock, no problem there. I'd have a look at the i5 too, a bit more expensive to be sure, but a beautiful looking product if that's what floats your boat. The Acer timeline is another stunning looking product too.

Hey the HP G62-b50SA looks quite tasty. What does "Video Memory up to 1696 MB total available graphics memory" mean though? Merry Christmas btw!

There is no proper video card on that machine rather a integrated graphics card that is meant for office/web browsing only.

Hey the HP G62-b50SA looks quite tasty. What does "Video Memory up to 1696 MB total available graphics memory" mean though? Merry Christmas btw!

It means the on-board graphics chip utilises the system memory for it's operations & can use up to 1.5Gb of it.

In reality it means nothing. Just that the on-board graphics chip doesn't have its own memory & thus won't be the best for gaming.

Fair play for the info - always the same story with computer hardware though, if you wait another few months there'll be something better along. :pac:
I just like me a good deal right now

Although the i3 system is a hell of a deal and probably the best in terms of price / €, I've had an i5 since October and it's a screamer: the turbo boost really kicks in when I'm converting video and it doesn't break a sweat no matter how much I throw at it.

Well, went to Currys Carlow this morning at 9am and purchased the €479 laptop, its a beauty...great deal, just to let you know Declan (although I'd say its changed now) but the pricing was not up and the staff didnt have a clue about the offers available even though the stock was stacked up at the tills?!...only unfortunate thing is that on my way back, the car crashed!

Ah well, at least a have a new toy to play with whilst I'm stuck in waiting for it to be fixed in the new year!

Thanks for both the business and the feedback. We keep the Sale deals extraordinarily hush hush until the very last moment on Christmas Eve and then release it to staff. But they should have had a full briefing this morning about the key offers. Hopefully fixed now.

Sorry to hear about the car though

Never heard of them but according to their site they are in Laois.

Just bought the €479 laptop in PC World in Cork. Declan, you may want to alert customers that the battery life on this model is only 2 hours, your Curry's shop in Cork are advertising them at 5.5 hours. Go next door to PC World and they have it at 2. Didn't bother the person I bought it for as she will be using it at home most of the time.

    They're latest range.

I've searched the i3 version (HP G62-b50SA) on other retailers websites and a few are advertising it with a HDMI port. Are these selling a slightly different model or was the HDMI port left out of the description in the link? I'll be heading into PC World in the morning and that deal would be perfect for me if it had that port.

I'm posting from my brand new i3 HP model (the one @€;569)!

Thanks for the heads up on here Declan, wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

I dealt with a lovely salesperson in the Galway PC World store, and in general they were very well prepared for us.

Let's hope I'm as happy with the purchase in a few months/years time!

My Sister picked up a HP with a P6100 processor, 500GB HD and 4GB of ram. A bit of an upgrade from the P4500 but a downgrade from the i3.

    Was 519.99 though.

    Thanks Currys/PC World :)

I picked up one of the HP dv6-3130sa laptops in Jervis today and am very impressed with it.

It is a very powerful laptop for the price (730euro) and seems to have quite a high Windows Performance Index rating for a general (non-gaming) laptop

Declan, do you know if this model is eligible for the HP upgrade program?

Google ("Pixmania Pro " shockeronics) and it shows that in the preview.
    No cache is currently showing.
Could have been in your alt tags or were you associated with P!x.. in the past and Google picked up on this, or was this copied from P!x.. T&cs and Google scanned it before it was changed? Have a word with your site designers.

Also note in your general conditions "This contract shall come under French law. Try A Go Ltd T/A Shockeronics will not be held responsible should our contract with you fail, for example, because of an Act of God, such as defined by French courts....."

Sounds odd for a Portlaois based company.

This is as basic as we'd have http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/ADVENT-Quantum-Q100/303924/301 but with 1GB of RAM it really has to be very basic in use.

I was in carrick mines today and was going to pick up the Hp laptop for 479 i currently have the hp pavillon dv6700. so im happy to stick with hp as i have had no problems with this one.

What I didn’t like on your display it had the spec & it had a 5.5 hour battery time which I was chuffed with.

I asked your agent to get the laptop, by the time he got back I noticed on the specs on the laptop it had 2hous batter time!!!!! False advertising.

I said it to your agent and he just scribbled out the 5.5 battery time and said it’s a mistake.

I told the agent I would pass on it, the guy beside who was getting one 2 also passed.

Glad i noticed that prior to purchasing , I would have been really pissed off getting home finding I had a 2 hour battery , as 5.5 was the main selling point for me,.

I've had a look last night, with a few glasses of vino on board, and tonight, with no vino on board and I can't see anything different in the specs of the two 13" Macbook Pros on the PC World site. Unless I'm missing something, the "sale offer" looks to be €50 extra for the same spec as the base 13" MBP, which is still €1149.

Can Declan, or anyone else, tell me how this one was ever €1399? And if so, how recently?

This was brought up with me early on in the thread by another customer. We're back in the office today so can fix this. Please be assured that it's a mistake at a time of the year when we're going flat out and not an attempt to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. Will be fixed

    Re the HP G56-130SA reduced from 699 to 479 in PC World;

1 - Is this offer really all it is made out to be? Is priced at 419, reduced from 499, on Pixmania, and at 433, reduced from 515, on Shockeronics.
    http://www.shockeronics.com/Products/G56-130sa__08849067.aspx
    http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/7984278/art/hp/g56-130sa.html#pix-review

2 - Seems to be one difference between models listed on above sites - both pixmania and shockeronics say processor is an Intel Celeron T3500, clocked at 2.10 GHz. PC World say it is a 2.3 GHz Intel Pentium Processor T4500 (Declan earlier linked to HP site specifications at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02540068&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&site=null&lang=en&key=null&product=4326263

Seeing as all sites are specifically advertising the G56-130sa, surely the processor should be the same? Or can there be different processors on said laptop, depending on who the seller is? Might this explain the price difference (ie original price of 699 v 499)? My basic research indicates that not huge difference between above processors but am open to correction.

Must admit I'm surprised that the same model description can have different specs. You had me terrified there that I had linked to a different spec on the HP site but doesn't look the case thankfully !

Our own site still won't load the full spec so I've loaded the spec from the UK site above.

Is MS Office Starter 2010 included with G62-b50sa? The salesperson in PC World in Limerick said it wasn't but the UK webiste below says it is

Also, is there any antivirus deals on purchase of new laptop?

    Thanks

    It is.

Of course I went and downloaded it (all 400MB or thereabouts) before I realised!

The antivirus offer I got was that I got Norton 360 (which can be used on 3 pcs) and the activation code for Microsoft Office Home and Student for €99.

I'm beginning to sound like a Curry's salesman (any job offers?!)
