Washing machine not starting- frozen pipe?

My washing machine is in the shed outside in the garden. Went to put it on today and it goes
'click , click. click' as if its trying to start spinning but doesn't spin.
I checked manually and the drum spins.

Is the water frozen? because I'm not 100% sure that the pipes are frozen as I've been out there for 30 mins with my hair dryer.

An one else come across this?

See if you can isolate and then disconnect the water feed to the washing machine.
Put the end of the hose into a bucket and turn back on the water - if no water then yes you have frozen pipes.
If not then yes worn motor brushes.

Having this same problem with my washing machine, its a Zanussi ZWF 1210W

My machine is filling & draining and the electronics are working correctly but it just wont spin.

When it froze a few weeks ago it stopped and when it thawed out it started working again for a few days but when it froze again recently it stopped working again.

The drum is just not spinning; the belt is in tact so is it likely to be the brushes?

If its the brushes how easy it is to replace these, is it expensive and where would you get them (Wicklow / Dublin area)?

    Cheers

We have the exact same model and it froze a few weeks ago and then worked fine but after freezing last week it now won't fill up.

The pipes aren't frozen any more and it "clicks" on, there's the sound of water going in for 2-3 seconds then it stops.
    Any ideas?

My machine is filling and emptying fine so pipes not frozen. It's the drum thats not spinning with mine and I believe its the motor brushes.

Funny how it worked again when it thawed out last time but it's mild again now and its not working this time.

Be aware that your motor brushes might be getting near the end of their life.

This happened me the 2nd last freeze where the drum stopped rotating and came back when it thawed out. It stopped again the last freeze and this time didnt come back when it thawed out. Got the click click click but no drum movement; water in/out ok.

A quick change of the motor brushes (less than €20) sorted the problem and machine now running like new.
