Romeo the Romanian was just a silly game that was made up by some class mates. Basically from what I remember alot of Romanian (pretty decent compared to some other pr!cks I went to school with) kids joined our school in around the mid 90's. Everytime you spotted one you had to say "ROMEO". Ye sounds dodgy but when your a kid you don't understand these things. It became a silly habbit in the school yard. In the last of our primary school days alot of them became friends with us, swapped alot of Nes games with those guys, in fact one of them is still a decent friend today

    Bulldog was good.

Pogs were good, until one of my rare slammers were robbed. Make of a metallic silver.

That was it for me really.

I don't know if it counts as a game but collecting, swapping stickers and having sticker albums was the craze in my school. Happy days. :)

Stickers were awesome! And fancy papers! I think I still have mine in the attic in my parents house.

Apart from rounders, tip the can, bulldog and 'kitchen', does anyone else remember playing elastics?

Kiss Chasing....always slowed down for the pretty girls:D

What's the reason for being reasonable?

    Is that an unreasonable question?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,573 ✭✭✭✭kowloon

We had a game called ball, the object was to get the ball. Everyone had to chase and beat the person with the ball in order to get the ball, continuing the cycle of violence.

Another game I remember was similar to any other chasing/hiding game where one person had to find and catch the others who would join the chaser after they were caught. We made it our own by the inclusion of the rule that the caught person must be punched in the balls by each member of the chasing team. It seemed bad at the time, but I've come to appreciate later in life that being crap at hiding was a good thing.

Knock-a-dolly or Knick-Knack we called it, thankfully the playstation has sedated modern-day scamps so you don't really see it anymore!

Stay outside the lines was a good one.

Apparently the teachers disproved and gave out to anyone who stepped outside the lines. So the trick was whoever stayed outside the longest won.

    It was epic.

'leg' ball; otherwise known as 'a game of leg', tip the can, and red rover were particular favourites during school time. I'm laughing here just thinking about it; they were fun times:D

you could always tell the budding sadomasochistic homos, they liked to play feint games in the yard. and 'touch willies'

i chose to play 'plastic bag over the head' with em if they didn't suffocate at least the rest of the break they'd be trying to break free. somehow more productive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 419 ✭✭Gary4279

    Slaps
    I.R.A
    Buldogs
    conkers ect...

last man standing was epic though, teacher would leave the room. everyone would stand up, when the teacher returned the last one standing won, and got detention.

Turtles cards. Later Simpsons cards and, occasionally, Callcards.

The only Turtles card I didn't own was #14, Metamorphosis. I don't remember any of the ones I actually did own.

    Played a lot already mentioned.

Penis/bollocks game was fun too. Basically one person has to say penis, and the next says it louder and it keeps going on and on.

    primary school
kiss chasing in 2nd class ...until it was not allowed anymore.
bulldog ...until it was not allowed anymore
IRA ...more an after school thing and continued to secondary school, but one team gets a word and each person on that team gets a letter, they split up and hide/ run. the second team then chases them and beats them up for the letter.
    football
Gameboy for one year when everyone got a gameboy colour and the pokemon red, blue or yellow. never got in to yu gi oh and other bull**** things.
    guns
gta basically gta liberty city (the first 3d one), with one guy putting on a dodgy accent and given us a mission, then it was just guns and imagining you were in a car or had an american accent
    secondary school
tape measure. 2 games in woodwork/ metalwork
    1. guess the lenght of a thing as a group and go measure it.
"that looks about 3 ft 2 inches"
    "no about 2ft 7" "
then go measure it.....its amazing what youll do to avoid study in a free class.
    2. putting the tape measure as far up into the air at about 80 degrees without it buckling. got to about 384 or 284 centimetres. again its amazing what stupid things we would come up to to avoid a free class.

throwing bits of wood at eachother

    selotape ball
we also used to play a game by putting a bit of wood in the middle of the desk and flick a ball of selotape over it to a goal made on the otherside.

the recycling bins used to be in the metalwork room so bottles used to be regularly thrown.

hitting files together to produce sparks at eachother.

throwing scribes at targets, usually with somones hand nearby.

used to play dots in othe free classes. with whole copy pages. (the game where you mark a sheet of paper with a grid of dots and then try make boxs out of those dots)

    alot more simple games.

    edit
    few more,
    ignore the teacher
teacher comes into a class to ask a qustion or give out, nobody acknowledges his/her presence.
we made one person cry (didnt know she would take it to heart), she said "lads!, move on to classs" the four of us ignored her as she kept saying lads until she grabbed one of our arms.

    last one wins
last one to enter the class or kick the ball in pe wins. used to be funnier in pe.... run up to the ball, do a load of stepovers without touching it and let somone else who wasnt playing get it.

we also had a teacher who looked like carol vordamen, an uglier carol vordamen, so we used to constantly ask for another vowel, or a constanent

    slaps

    aggh the memories

    Soggy Biscuit.......(not really! I swear!).

Conkers. (The trick was nail polish remover to keep 'em hard.............durty!)
    Marbles.
    Bulldog.
    Top Trumps.

You had 4 people stand in a square and 1 person in the middle and u had to call the person opposite like you call a cat and try and swap sides before the person in the middle caught u...or something like that:confused:

Then there was the Orange Balls game/song too!

Ah good old Bulldogs... confession time. We used to play it in school and everyone would delibeately lose until one particular guy was left. He had to get though the whole thirty or so of us. Every time he fell for it and every time he got the **** kicked out of him. Kids can be so cruel. Because the punishments are so... lenient.

bulldog was banned in our primary school, about 60 used to play with 2 on to start. somone broke their arm, then two weeks later somones collar bone got broken that was the end of that.
