    Just a heads-up!

It airs a bit later than normal this year.. it airs on January 3rd.

    Panelists are:
    • Jonathan Ross
    • Ruth Jones
    • Michael McIntyre
    • Alan Carr
    • Richard Ayoade
    • Noel Fielding

EDIT: Just to confirm date and time:
Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2010

Jimmy Carr pits teams of celebrities including Jonathan Ross, Ruth Jones, Alan Carr, Noel Fielding and Michael McIntyre against each other in a bid to find out who can remember the most about the year just gone. Famous faces and some of 2010's most unlikely headline grabbers are on hand to ask questions. Topics under the comedy microscope are the instrument that caused controversy at the football World Cup, Gordon Brown's faux pas in General Election week, and Mary Bale, who became Britain's most hated woman when she put more than just rubbish in a bin

Alan Carr fair enough, but Michael McIntyre deserves more credit.

He's irritating as f*ck more often than not, but he can be damn funny!

Not sure about that, when they showed all the previous years back to back last Christmas you could hear it developing as the years went on - it definitely wasn't always that bad.

Disappointed this year. Not as good as usual. Although maybe it's one of those things that I just remembered it to be better than it was?

Yeah doesn't seem as good as other years. Don't think I'll bother with the rest of it to be honest.

Charlotte Church was supposed to be on it, but she was sick, so they got Ruth Jones on the day.

Its on 4oD already if anyone wants to see it...

They should rename it next year to the big fat ad break of the year. Every 10 minutes it stopped for ads. I got pissed off after an hour of this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

It wasn't great to be honest.. only Ayaode and Fielding were worthwhile on it!

All of the other panelists just didn't seem arsed.

Could count the number of times Alan Carr spoke on my fingers.. although that was a plus - irritating fecker!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

    No Russell = no point

He's the glue holding this show together!

I'll probably give it a watch though, I love Richard Ayoade

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,551 ✭✭✭panda100

Richard Ayoade was woeful, can't believe everyone on here think's he was funny! He was so irritating in the end, going on tangents that were not remotely funny.
    Noel Fielding still the best!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,089 ✭✭✭✭LizT

Don't find Noel Fielding even remotely funny. Ever.

Nope, even in the IT crowd he doesn't make me laugh.

Yeah I didn't think Ayoade was that good really.

Rob Brydon and David Mitchell badly missed.

Richard Ayoade & Noel Fielding's "random" answers got quite old really quick.

Definitely not as funny as last years, very few laugh out loud pieces. Mainly "heh"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,397 ✭✭✭✭FreudianSlippers

Not as funny as previous years, agreed, but it was entertaining IMO.

Charlie Brooker's 2010 Screenwipe blew it out of the water though - absolutely pisspantsing hilarious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,984 ✭✭✭Venom

Thought it was pretty weak compared to previous years tbh.

Richard Ayoade & Noel Fielding crazy answer gig got very old very quickly and Ruth Jones was a total waste of space. Alan Carr and Michael McIntyre both of whom I normally avoid like the plague were decent enough overall and Ross was his usual self.

Sean Locke, David Mitchell and Rob Brydon were very much missed this year.

    Agreed.

I missed Lock's criticism of the kids (who act out the news story) performances on stage! :D

I enjoyed it, even though I maintain that Mitchell & Webb should have been a team. I thought Richard Ayoade and Noel Fielding were the highlights.

    This begs the question:

What is your ideal Big Fat Quiz Lineup? :D

    Russell Brand
    Noel Fielding

    Jonathan Ross
    David Walliams

    Rob Brydon
    David Mitchell

    Dara O'Briain
    Sean Lock

Fielding and Brand are just one trick ponies on the quiz tho and the tricks been well and truly played out.

In your opinion maybe, but am a big fan of both Brand and Fielding - and I'm not the only one.

Fielding was probably the only funny thing about this year's one.. and he wasn't even on top form IMO.

You honestly thought McIntryre and Carr were good? They were the most quiet of the three teams.. especially Carr.

I thought it was a very weak show compared to previous years. I also think that Charlie Broker blew it out of the water.

    Can't wait for the 10 o'clock show!

I'm a big Brooker fan, but I don't think he's comfortable on panel shows.

He didn't impress me much the year he was on at all.

Agreed. He does fantastic rants, but when put in front (or in the middle) of a panel, he's borderline useless.

    Brooker doesn't do banter.

Big Brooker fan as well but he was rubbish when on the quiz.
