Well to be honest youll get a better deal here now. the Yen (presumably your getting in from Japan?) is shíte really at the moment.

Its only worth importing these days if you specifically cant find anything you want in Ireland, it is more expensive to import than to buy in Ireland these days.

Agree fully with the lads. Due to the Yen it's not worth importing at the moment. Which is a bit of a pain, as importing yourself, you would have more choice.
And in my position, it's a right pain, as i'm looking into Accord Euro R's at the moment and there are very very very few in the country to chose from :(

Well I can find what I want in a '02 for 9k here when theres a '06 for about 10-11k on import, so can't decide would it be worth it at half the mileage & the 4yrs :-/

Does that 10-11k include all shipping, handling fees, booking fees, VRT etc?

If you do import, make sure you get a copy of the Auction report aswell

    Yep

If that price includes customs and excise + vat, plus port handling fee, plus a clearing agent etc that is a good price

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,385 ✭✭✭Jemmy

Well on my calculation thats what it comes to, only thing is once it gets here I'll want blue recaros & decent alloys for it which I won't be able to afford!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,237 ✭✭✭✭djimi

That price seems very cheap for a 06 DC5? A couple of years ago it was going to cost me nearly €9k to import a 99 DC2. Is it a grade 4?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,396 ✭✭✭Tefral

Traditionally whatever the FOB price for it in Japan, if you doubled it here in Euro that would be roughly what the cost of the car was. I dunno what it is now.

    06 DC5 for 11k seems cheap...

    FOB price is 6,500

First thing it will need when it gets here is a decent alarm.
Blue Recaro's still make a very large chunk of cash seeing as they are more sought after than red or black one's

This should not be underestimated. The first thing you do after VRT'ing the car is to get a very good alarm fitted...

I would think the government are missing out on a fortune with so little cars making it through the docks and the ferries for the last while looking to pay VRT.

Gone i think are the days of people waiting for their import to arrive off the ship either for personal or financial gain for quite a while, good for the secondhand market though;),it needed a ripple and it got a tidal wave.

    sure thing

5 grand now or so can you get worlds finest luxobarges in the island of ireland

That is more then likely the starting bid price,06 DC5 type Rs are going for €15K FOB and type S ones are about €9K FOB

just looked there and a 04 type r went for €6,500 FOB with a starting bid of €2,600 FOB

your better off looking here and the uk 1st imho

    Nice DC5.
They do look a bit bland in silver, but I do like them.
That was priced about 19k not too long ago

I think it is very nice in that colour and the lip kit is an aftermarket add on too which endorses it's street cred a bit.

Looks near new and with an upgrade of some darker wheels or colour change at least and with some lowering springs to start and i think it would be a great looking car and it will hold it's freshness for years to come.

    Quoted from the ad

"kieran o Dowd says 08/12/2010 11:51 pm (1 week ago):
id be open to fighting yea for the car..?"

I would watch out for that one ,is this the new method for selling cars :D

1.7 on log book would immediately put me off if the owner isn't mature enough to insure it properly then it sets off alarm bells for me.

Car might be ok but i'd be extra wary that maybe it was a young lad that owned it and drove the arse off it without proper upkeep

Yea thats exactly what I was thinking, but its exactly what I want so I'm just still kinda like hmmm maybe he didn't!

If I was to get something like that I'd be insuring it myself for the actual engine size though, don't wana get caught with no pay out if anything happened. :-/

    What ye think?!

I was booked into view this car with the previous owner @ 5 months ago now.

A lad in Tipperary was selling it,said it was the previous owner had it registered as a Civic Coupe so i rang the Dept of transport and they were all ears!

I wanted to see how much hassle it would have been to get it registered lawfully and they told me the current owner would have to do it at a registration office with all the documents etc.

I blanked it straight away, the rule stands if it is too cheap there is a reason.

Plenty of folks using the "Leaving the country" slogan too these days, just beware ;)

These cars are still a bit rare but a lot of peeps out there will at least know some info on them, always best to ask around.

That silver DC5 was mine but it's sold now. I know silver isn't everyone's taste but it looked fantastic in the flesh and was in perfect condition. But my god it took me a LONG time to sell it!! Only 2 people ever came to view it and the 2nd one bought it.

The 2 blue DC5's are nice. A bit overpriced IMO. The wheels on the 2005 one really ruin it for me, don't think they suit it at all

I am not a fan of the facelift model at all myself.

Don't even bother with an IS Integra, just not worth the running costs of a 2.0ltr car.

If i was thinking of spending in and around E15K on a Honda 2.0Lltr performance car i would be i would be looking at a FD2 Civic typeR 07+,i believe they can be had for a few quid less than they were 2 years ago too when there Market price probably peaked.

I love shopping for cars personally and would love to be doing it again :P.good luck.
