Playing avc files

Hi, I have some avc files on my computer that I got from a cctv dvr. I have nothing on the pc that can play these files, can anyone suggest where I can get a suitable player? There are also some idx files in the same folder as the avc files, I think these are used for the date/time display on the movie. Thanks.
