    petroltimer,

is it all about money with you people, i thought the celtic tiger woes would have put a stop to that..i guarantee you, you are certainly not a nationalist from the north of ireland..i bet you are sitting on a nice cosy job, and have never been affected by the queens troops in the north?????

its not so long since her ancesters plundered our towns, ran our relatives off farms, and took control of our rivers...have u no shame saying, oh it would be good for business..for gods sake, you are a disgrace..

Typical Irish persecution complex, get into the 21st century mate.

You say queen Elizabeth ancestors are plundered this country, is every person to be held responsible for their ancestors? Or maybe it’s her office as queen that offends as it was her predecessors in this office that plundered this country? if so would you also hate to see a visit from the American president whose office presided over the massacre of native Americans and 150 years of slavery, or how about the Australian prime minister who’s country nearly wiped out the aboriginals and did not give them the vote until 1962, both of which had a very strong Irish involvement all elements of the state.
We could go on all day; simple fact is you’re just a bigot.

As for my job, it’s a private industry job(never worked in public sector) I got this job through my hard work at university of which I paid for by working a full year between school and college, I come from a working class family but I don’t need to use that as an excuse for failure.
That’s the problem with people like you, always looking for someone to blame.

I’m proud to say I am right wing a capitalist, and capitalism is not to blame for the mess this country is in, it was the socialist ideas that bailed out the banks.

As for the Queen her and her ancestors, they saw it and they took it. Fair Dues

scum talk out of you petrol timer..and dont call me mate..

i knew u were a capitalist before u admitted to it

you sound like you think capitalism is a bad thing, if it were left to socialists (don't know if you're one) we would be all living high rise flats doing the same dead end job day after day, kinda like working in the public sector :D

There are no bailiffs in IFI Swords - that's the head office and most of those vehicles are used by research staff. The rest of your post is valid though, its up to us to be proactive and look after our own waters...

I saw a very strange one awhile ago. Was down at the beach readin the paper. There was 4 fisheries board vehicles there. They launched a jet ski with "Fisheries Patrol" written on the side of it and went away out.

Twas like CSI Miami or in this case CSI south kerry

Can cover a lot more area with a jetski - could check bass anglers along a several-mile stretch of beach in no time, or check for illegal nets along a good stretch of coastline. FO's are using bikes, jetskis, kayaks, quads in different places around the country to be more effective. Bikes are very handy on places like the Barrow Navigation, where you could cover 10 miles of towpath in an hour easily, whereas it would take 2/3 hours walking to do the same. Same goes for kayaks on certain rivers. Its all about making the best use of time and covering the most ground.

It has to start at local level, Angling clubs are the best voluntary tool a water has, club members put up signs, tend waterside edges and watch for pollution and illegal fishing.

read more on becoming a water keeper here,

    www.angling-in-ireland.com/ReferenceDocs/Waterkeeper-may07.doc

    http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1959/en/act/pub/0014/sec0294.html

we have to do the groundwork ourselves as the IFI have not been given the resources needed especially not in this economic climate.

remember safety first, illegal poachers and polluters are breaking the law and can be liable to do nasty things evading capture, do not confront people you believe to be doing something illegal alone...

    example

    http://www.fisheriesireland.ie/Press-releases/jail-sentence-for-obstruction-and-assault-of-fishery-officer.html

best to ring the local fisheries officer and let them do the rest, a car Reg or a photo unseen is often the best info to get rather than a confrontation, let the IFI officer take it from there...
