    That's an error in the crossword, I'm sure it meant 28 down, the answer looks like ice.

    Well that seems like a good assumption. I had looked up lots of synthetic surfaces for races, so your's looks like being correct, thanks for that. :)

    I presume the chances of them not double- and triple- checking this were slim so I can't see how they'd let two mistakes on the same clue (presuming 'I'm lesser' was intended to be an anagram and that Meireles and Bull are correct). Having said that I can't think of any alternative to Meireles and Bull.

    I emailed them and they said meireles and bull are right there was a misspelling of meireles and that it will be corrected tomorrow or there will be a notice to that effect in the times tomorrow....

    anyone else pick hulk over hill for the incredible F1 racer?
