Just wondering if anyone here has tried them? I'm in good shape, I'm not fat, but years of lifting and always breathing deeply into my belly seems to have made it stick out a lot. This isn't obvious from the front but from the side it protrudes quite a bit.

I don't have a pic but it's very similar to what Chuck Liddell's belly looks like

Just wanna know if I'l be wasting my time doing them or not.
    Thanks

Yeah Chuck just looks fat there.

As for you, could just be lordosis from crap posture and/or tight hip flexors.

Actually just found this thread all about it. I do have the curved spine but it doesn't cause me any problems. I can squat very deeply and have very good hamstring flexibility. It's just the fact it makes me look fat that annoys me.

I'l try those stretches in the vid Transform posted. Did the sucking in and holding do anything for you, Hanley?

Chuck is probably nearly 230 pounds there, he was well known for packing on weight after weigh-ins

It's weird though cos his arms were always really vascular, which is normally a sign of low bodyfat. And sometimes you could make out a six pack, but it bulged outwards, like a HGH gut.

Well he was a good wrestler for years and more than likely has a very strong core. He has a weird stance as well, very long arms so maybe Chukc is a bad reference for this?

It's not a GH gut, if that's what you're suggesting.

GH guts tend to come with GH muscles elsewhere on your body. He's just got a gut.

Chuck trained extremely hard for his last fight against Rich Franklin and had a 6-pack. It was simply a pad of excess bodyfat which he saw no need getting rid of when he was in his prime and able to KO most of his opponents.

Getting in great shape didn't help him much against Franklin though - he got KOed in the 1st round.

Chuck / Ice man. Is or was a combat fighter so visual apperance as opposed to say active/ comnpetitive bodybuilder is irrelevant. Fit strong people lyk power athletes can look bloated but can lift incredible weight and carry heavy objects over distance quickly. body composition is a personal issue for different people..any athlete can appear bloated , soft, fat, etc etc on any given off day....

No amount of breathing in can make your belly look fat. It's the first place to store fat and the last to lose it.

Rigorous diet (at a slight calorie deficiet.) Good cardio sessions and resistance are required. You need to cater your cardio sessions for your body. If you can lose body fat with 20 minutes every other day then great, however, 45-60 would be a more realistic target 5 to 7 days a week. You need to work out what is working and what is achievable.

45-60 minutes of cardio daily for fat loss?

Your stomach's always the first place to gain fat?

    Bad advice tbh.

Arnie swore by them, great exercise for the waist line, he done the longer version i.e.holding in for up to a minute, i myself do short ones, usually split them out during the day abot 4-500 in total, they don't take long either :)

In my case I think it's a combination of causes. A few years of loads of lower back work and a lack of ab work, and also the fact that I was on a pretty extreme fat loss diet there for a while, but had to stop cause of exams. I lost about 5 kg in a month but I do think the belly fat is last to go.
