I'm due to travel back to the UK in the next couple of days by ferry, but what's the quickest way to get to the Dublin ferry port from DCU? Do you have to get buses to O'Connell then out to the ferry port, or is there a service that goes quite close and I could just jump off? I need to be there by 7am is the only other issue.

It depends what company you're sailing with. DB have a bus service called Ferrylink which goes from Busaras and meets Irish Ferries departures at the port. A private coach runs from Westmoreland St to meet one of the other companies, possibly Stena Line.

Stena is the one I'm hopefully sailing with, and I'll be back in the new year to kick start the economy.

Have a look at this page - Mortons provide a shuttle from Westmoreland St to the port.
