Ah, yes, TV. But I thought it'd be varied a bit. Why not throw a few Monday nights or Sunday afternoons into the mix? Not that I'm complaining, it usually fills the gap before la liga nicely.

FFS, all these home cities that can't cope with a spittle of snow should just forfeit the 3 points - especially Wigan.

Arsenal match supposed to be going ahead, anyone know if The Emirates is covered because there's not much other than snow visible on it.

So no match on Setanta Ireland for me today :(

At least the Sunderland game is going ahead on the telly!

It really is a load of bollox. The pitches are playable, it's apparently the areas outside that aren't safe. If that's the case, why aren't local shopping centres for example shut up for the day?

You never hear of sports in the likes of Denmark or Norway getting postponed due to the snow outside the ground. If their spectators can make it to the ground alright then what's the issue in England? Piss poor planning?

Shit evening ahead with no football on.

BBC have now confirmed that Arsenal v Stoke is off.

That leaves us with the early game at Sunderland,

and one 3 o'clock at Blackburn - provided their undersoil heating holds up!

wtf is going on? I watched the Patriots against the Bears last weekend, it was played in blizzard/whiteout conditions. thought the Americans were supposed to be a lot more litigous than us.

is there something else going on? are clubs trying to give themselves a christmas break?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,501 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Well being selfish it's handy enough for me cause I have an exam at three so woulda missed the Arsenal match:p

Still it'll cause more fixture pile up's later, plus it wrecks havoc with any ff plans.

The issue with England *might* just be that their infrastructure isn't designed at great cost to handle these kinds of rare events.

The Stamford Bridge brigade better be doing their best to get the game to go ahead tomorrow....

Spurs game still on, game of the day even if there were no cancellations... I'm feeling an 8 goal thriller!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,238 ✭✭✭Patser

Ahh sweet jaysus, this is one of my few weekends off and had promised myself a pub day watching football to avoid all the Christmas Mayhem. What a choice left now, Sunderland vs Bolton and Blackburn vs West Ham:(

At this rate I'll end up watching rugby!

8 championship games still going ahead, weird. Clearly made of sterner stuff.

Any word if the live game on Setanta Ireland is just going to be cancelled or could it be swapped over to one of the games thats going ahead?

I remember rte two changing game at the last minute afew seasons back when they shared rights with Setanta so it wouldn't be the first time this kind of thing has happened

It's due to public transport issues in London, i.e. tube stations are closed.

Very convenient for Chelsea to call the game off more than a day in advance with their crap form & injuries lately.

Are you presuming that Chelsea FC called off the game and not the metropolitan police as happened in many other games? Its likely not the pitch that is the problem so I would imagine its the approach roads/footpaths and transport problems that is the main factor

Touche. It was a tidy 31 today.

I'm just shitty cause I'm due to go to COMS for the Villa game on the 28th and would be pissed if it got called off.
