The guy is still looks to be standing on the cables in the black and white photo, so he mustn't have had any problems with heights or balance. I don't really have problems with heights, but seeing photos of workers on older large projects like that make me wonder how long it took them to get used to the heights/wind/etc. without being a dizzy, snivelling mess.
Edit: This guy is cleaning the Burj Khalifa...
