    Where'd you see that?

It's definitely true, I'm working at it and got an email from the Admissions Office.
    Hi,

Open Day has been rescheduled to Sat 22 January, 10am to 2pm.

I assume they'll email everyone in the New Year.

"Open day", ffs. An excuse for a bunch of kids to get drunk and run riot around campus.

Why don't they just shut down the college and turn it into a theme park already. There is already ample information in the prospectus for any second level student considering entering Trinity. If they want to visit the campus, they can do so any day of the year. Trinity shouldn't waste more money employing hacks to put on the stage show of "open day".

You do realise you were one of those "kids" before? And no, not everyone plans to go "get drunk". It's such a stupid allegation to make. I for one, plan on going to the open day to find out from LECTURERS about the courses I'm interested in. I'm afraid the prospectus doesn't have a video call function for me to use, so like, sorry for ruining your day..

Why can't you do this on any of the other 364 days of the year? Each lecuturer has an office. Call in and have a chat. Also feel free to post any questions about a course on this forum. You'll often find the student's point of view is more honest and unbiased.

There is no need for a mob of kids to descend onto the college all at once for their big day out. And no, I never went to an open day in my life. I knew Trinity could provide me with the course I wanted.

Well considering I've to travel from the other end of the country, it'd be very difficult to make sure I could get in contact with a lecturer. Open days are necessary for students to hear about the courses that they're interested in.

Yeah because having a load of prospective students showing up randomly through out the year to ask lecturers the same type of questions would be a much better system, that wouldn't waste time and irritate lecturers at all.

Not to mention a lot of these prospective students will be seventeen/ eighteen-year-olds who might find it a bit daunting showing up to a place they've never been before to talk to a complete stranger. And their parents mightn't like the idea of them spending the day at a college with no one there to look out for them.

This is the first I've heard of open days being an excuse to get drunk. No one I know ever used them as an excuse for drinking anyway.

I take it we haven't met so...

I'm Chris, pleased to meet you.
Drinking at open days was top notch back in the day.

Here is a map of Trinity college. Map of TCD

If you still need to a guided tour to figure it out, then you are more than likely a medically certified retard. Perhaps you should reconsider undertaking a third level education.

Does anybody know if this is just for undergrads?
I'm looking to talk to some people about a Masters in computer science so is there any point in me going tomorrow?

I think postgrad stuff usually gets its own open day/afternoon, but I am not sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 108 ✭✭Jaych1000

    Thanks for that.
I went to have a final look at the TCD website and noticed they have a separate day for the Postgrads.
    Thursday 27th January 4-7pm.
