What is Your Favourite Video Game Character of All Time.

Mine is a Toss up Between Mario & Sonic. These are the pioneers of character base gaming and every generation of console brings these characters further out in front.

I think Mario shades it. The true Godfather of the Gaming World. Predictable But True.

For me it's has to be Solid Snake. Great character when he was introduced on the Playstation & I am sure people have found memories from his early days on Nintendo. Very cool character.

    Honorable mention to Crash Bandicoot.:D

I am Raziel, first-born of his lieutenants. I stood with Kain and my brethren at the dawn of the empire. I have served him a millennium. Over time, we became less human and more...divine. Kain would enter the state of change and emerge with a new gift. Some years after the master, our evolution would follow. Until I had the honor of surpassing my lord. For my transgression, I earned a new kind of reward...agony. There was only one possible outcome - my eternal damnation. I, Raziel, was to suffer the fate of traitors and weaklings - to burn forever in the bowels of the Lake of the Dead.

Kratos swiftly became a favourite of mine when I first played God Of War. Quan Chi and Shang Tsung are all time faves of mine too.

Lets see Miranda from Mass Effect 2 the woman who she's modeled on & voiced by is breathtaking(i'm watching way too much Seinfeld).Garrus from Mass Effect & Captain Price from COD both are characters that I cared about.Oh & Theresa from the Fable series who is voiced by some sultry sounding english woman.

Mii Hitler and Mii Hulk Hogan, together in a canoe.

    Seriously, Kefka, Vega and Frog.

    Ah, good old Crash Bandicoot.

The most memorable character for me is probably Claude, the main character from Grand Theft Auto III. That game was simply amazing. I loved Final Fantasy X as well (don't hate me), and Auron was just such a badass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,800 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

Tommy Vercetti, Max Payne, Nathan Dranke, Altair and Luigi (always felt he got a raw deal!!)

I also loved Thwomps and I've no idea why.

I loved Wario when he first appeared on the Gameboy and loved the game (Warioland) but now he's overkill.

I tend to like the anti-heroes like:

    Kratos
    Sephiroth
    Akuma

Toss-up between Nathan Drake, Tommy Vercetti and GLaDoS.

    But GLaDoS wins. :p

Another vote for Shodan here. Fantastic character, and truly creepy. Honourable mentions for GLaDOS and Alex (Half Life) as well.

Tough choice between Big Boss from the Metal Gear Solid games and Dante from Devil May Cry (not including Dante from DMC2, because that game doesn't exist. It was a bad dream, and they skipped DMC2 and just made DMC3 instead. Yes. That's what happened. DMC2 doesn't exist)

Roger Wilco - resonates with me for some reason... mostly because hes also a sarcastic, naive, dismal failure except when he saves the world by accident. :/

For me theirs two characters that stand out way above the rest, also if I was to list my top 10 characters from games/films/books/tv etc combined these would still be my top 2, they are Sephiroth (FF7) and Greyfox (MGS), I can't decide on which is 1st and 2nd though

Sephiroths backstory builds him up as been not just the greatest soldier ever but quite possible the toughest games character ever, he really does have an air of invincibility about him. I loved the way other characters talk about him and all the "only Sephiroth could of done this", a "man with a dark cloak just walked through here" "Sephiroth was here" etc as it leaves you dying for his next appearance, a legend and a truely unforgettable character

Greyfox has got to be the most mysterious character ever. Killing soldiers, making random appearances and making statements that don't make sense (they'll make sense soon) does he want to kill you or help you or both? Is their something familiar about him? What does Naomi know about him? When you do get the answers it makes for a really superb backstory with another few twists also Snakes fight with Greyfox is so much fun and Greyfox makes quite a few memerable quotes, a very unique, unforgettable and cool character that no MGS fan will ever forget

(Also +1 for the usual suspects. Cloud Strife, Solid Snake, Jill Valentine, Chris Refield, Lara Croft, Point Man [FEAR])

    Oooh also.

Kefka is better than Sephiroth. Fact.

Can't see why people like Kratos so much. To me he has very little personality especially in the second game. In that one Kratos acts like a spoil 10 year old brat that has a tantrum when he gets spanked by Zeus, only a very very violent tantrum. I suppose it was kind of funny seeing the excesses of violence Kratos would go to despite him being totally in the wrong.

Kudos on Gillian Seed. He was a great character and really well acted. Loved how he was a total perv and got in trouble all the time for it!

I've never really understood Kratos myself either. Still haven't played the third game, so maybe i'm missing something really important, but he comes off as a total dick. Basically i'm angry, so i'll destory the world to get what i want. I get anti-hero's, but i just couldnt like Kratos.

Well in the first game he had a very good reason to be angry. The second game however he is a complete cockend. I hear he is a bit more fleshed out in the PSP games though.

Why was the detectives daughter so dern hot?! You got kicked out of her house too then eh? :D

I'm currently playing through Policenauts and Jonathan Ingram is making me crack up too. I'm realising the stark Lethal Weapon similarities. (Hard to miss!).

Sephiroth was something else altogether. He was incredibly intense, I actually wanted him to win, and although they may have aged poorly, his scenes in FFVII were extremely memorable! The scene with Nibleheim on fire or that scene at the end of FFVII
Cloud Flying head first at him for one last battle, Sephiroth just looks up at him, calm as ever (even though he gets owned)
I even liked him in Advent Children

Nathan Drake is the definition of childhood hero, even if we only got introduced to him on the PS3. I feel like he's been my idol since I was a kid. One of those "Wow, I want to be an climbing treasure hunter when I grow up!" His akward wit in dangerous situations is pure quality.

Revolver Ocelot is the final one. I'm willing to overlook the whole possessed thing (and the somewhat flimsy explanation of it) but all in all, this guy was awesome. I especially like him in MGS3, which probably puts me in the minority, but I loved the whole cheeky arrogance thing he had going on! "I love to reload in a battle..."

Dunno why I liked the ninja\Grey Fox in MGS. I think it's cos he goes out in a blaze of glory at the end.

    Another bada$$!

Definitely not in the minority I think. Ocelot was just brilliant in MGS3. The genesis of one of the best characters ever in my opinion. I actually had trouble choosing between Solid Snake, Big Boss and Ocelot (though I still think Big Boss wins). Ocelot in the games was brilliant, even with the possession stuff, but Ocelot in MGS3 was spellbinding. Everything he did was exciting. Everything he said was interesting. And throughout it all you never knew whether to hate him or not. A brilliant character

Tell you what though, they ruined him in MGS4 and the whole arm thing in MGS2 was beyond ridiculous.

Oh yes. Man i need to download that game and relive the good'ole days.

Another from MGS series. That black girl in MGS2. I forget her name but bullets wizz around her and she wanted to die. I have a feeling that im missing one character that is the deepest video game character ever, but i dont know who it is....

-Edit- ARTHAS! Yes. Man his fall from grace only to become king, OF THE SCOURGE! World of Warcraft: Wotlk intro got me pumped for that game on so many levels. Illidan and Grom Hellscream also should get a mention on here.
