Do women have no taste in music

I realsie this is a bit generalising but...
Is it not mainly women that go to see boy bands and buy their records. I realise some men do too but i'll bet anything the vast majority are female. Turned on the TV the other night, to my horror saw Take That were on, and a bunch of 'sreaming' women in the audience, not even girls, grown women. Same story i'll bet on x-factor. Only reason all this exists is becasue Mr Cowel and the rest are making absolute fortunes selling this vacious rubbish to women

i know it Depends on what you like..but

last time i checked Foo Fighters and system of a down, weren't considered a bad taste in music...they are two of my many favorites!

What I noticed is that girls particularly love whatever music is played to them from the tv or radio and whatever is in the charts is what they like, even in order of the charts, like their number 1 song right now is the no.1 in the charts and in a few weeks time they wont even remember the song or the artists. I personally think a woman with a great taste in music is very rare (I said RARE not impossible) and there are few female artists/singers I enjoy.

I dunno. Most people in general have "bad" taste in music. It's also very socially defined. Men "should" like "hard" music, women "should" like "soft" music.

I listen to a LOT of music. On both sides of the fence. I completely ignore what everyone else thinks of what I listen to, so I'm sure you can find many things in my library that I'm "supposed" to be embarrassed about, but you'll find an equal amount of things that are purely quality from any perspective.

I like what I like, unapologetically, and for a myriad of reasons. And I am female. But my being female, or the men being male, has nothing to do with defining our tastes. It just comes down to how into music you actually are and how easily defined you are by social convention instead of just what you enjoy.

On average, men have better taste in music than women. If you had a room with 1,000 men and 1,000 women - it's probable more of the men would have a 'better' taste in music.
This is probably due to the fact that on average, men/boys are more socially awkward than thier female peers, particularly during early teenage years when a facination with music starts to take hold - listening to music is for the most part, a soliatry activity, a refuge from the real world even.
That's my theory anyway.
