Must be one of the best cards ever run on an Irish racecourse with the addition of the Hilly Way and John Durkan - 7 races inc 4 Grade 1s, a Grade 2 and a Grade 3. Hopefully a lot of the big names appear on the entries tomorrow morn

It passed an inspection today and the weather is not forecast to be bad for the next 48 hours that would lead to a cancellation.

See it to believe it but yeah, its been a long time coming. I'd planned to go but I'm not so sure now. It'll be a brilliant card alright

hope your right, do you back him now for the RSA or do you wait for him to run tomorrow.

Back him now, Mullins very rarely if ever starts a novice out in a Grade 1. He obviously think he is the real deal.

Plus Mullins has won the RSA a few times so it is his most likely target.

The more you put down, the more you get back

And? That's why were getting 11/8, he would be 1/4 to beat this lot if he had no time off. Take advantage

Won't be another card of this quality until the Cheltenham Festival.
    And only €10 in.
    Can't wait!

Tomorrows card looks red-hot as do most of the favs for tomorrow.

Zaidpour, Golden Cross, Tranquil Sea, Solwhit all look nailed on to win tomorrow. Mikal D'haugenet too but the layoff is a worry plus the lack of experience over fences recently plus Mullins comments arent exactly awe-inspiring. The first 4 look like good things especially Zaidpour, Golden Cross and Solwhit.

No. Solwhit is too short. Huricane Fly is a big big danger. Mullins wouldnt run Mikael D'Haguent in a Grade 1 first time up if he didnt think he cound win.

Very hard to say Solwhit is nailed on to win tomorrow. Hurricane is a serious horse and is definitely capable of beating Solwhit. The lack of a run may mean that Solwhit finishes in front this time round but I think it'll be a close race.

For me Tranquil Sea just isn't worth the punt. Glencove Marina @ 8/1 looks interesting.

Hard to see why you'd think Tranquil is more of a nailed on chance than Mikal. Don't you think it's a very average contest for grade 1? I think Realt Dubh is the main opposition. I'd say that it's almost a case of "if he stays up, he wins" for Mikal.

Golden Silver definitely has a serious chance but Carthalawn has to be seriously over priced @ 16/1.

For me it's Mikal and Zaidpour to do the business.

No thanks, I'll get plenty enough enjoyment watching him race...I'm not backing a horse off for 20 months, never run in a chase, with the trainers obvious indifference to winning races before christmas and with the weather the way its been....at 11/8.

He could well hose up butt he'll do it without my money. Thats a watcher.

You cant make a value call in these circumastances! You've never seen him race in a chase and hes been off for a year and a half!

I'd love to know what makes you lot so sure...

Solwhit is a much better bet than Mikal D'Haguenet. No wonder Solwhit is shortening and Mikal is drifting this morning.

    Thank God for Zaidpour!

That's the Champion Hurdler right there.

Brave as he is Solwhit doesn't have to pace to match the top Hurdlers

Hurricane is the biggest danger to Binocular, without doubt, and is a welcome contributior to my TTTF.

Have Mikhael in my TTTF, that was unfortunate. He'd have won it handy enough had he stood up.

Is that supposed to be funny.

Bar the fall I think he jumped well and was certainly going to win that

Jumped very well the whole way round even the the last great just seemed to slip on landing. Would have won had he not slipped !

Anyone else going? Pity Pandorama isn't taking on the big noys but looks like its gonna be a great card.

I'm a big fan of Asigh Pearl of Noel Meades who may be in the 1.55 Handicap Hurdle. He's no superstar and not one I'd bet to win but there is certainly a soft spot for him.

Obviously the big one with Kauto Star. I don't expect to see a higher rated chaser in the flesh again in my life so have to take the opportunity. Should be a walk for him unless Sizing Europes fitness helps and stamina appears.

Pandorama is among my favorite NH horses and have backed him for the GC at 33/1 (some will say I'm crazy). Should be a competitive race with See You Bob and Osana in there.

Brilliant day at Fairyhouse! Some nice horses and some nice bets. asigh Pearl has come throuugh for me at 20/1 so delighted with that. Also had Golden Silver and Kempes in combi Exacta @ 14/1 beaten half a length.

Mikael D'Hagaunet looked great in the paddock...hes a very tall horse. We know how good Mikael is and Jessies Dream was finding plenty. Don't know what a race fit Mikael will do butt he entitled to improve a lot. Kempes in contrast doesn't look a chaser at all...hes very short length-ways. I'm still a massive fan of Kempes and think he'll be competing in the best races for the rest of his career. Enough pace for 2m and stays 3m...Kauto anyone? :P

Zaidpour was irresistable. Very lean individual annd naturally enough looks like a flat horse which of course he was in France. Hurricane Fly is another that looks a flat horse...too much class for Solwhit over 2m. I backed Oscar Dan Dan ew there came 5th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭NaiveMelodies

I noticed Mikael D'Haugnet is entered in a few more races this month, does anyone reckon he will run or after falling will he be left recuperate for a while? Sorry, only a beginner when it comes to racing knowledge, so not sure what trainers do etc

Fair play to you for picking out Asigh Pearl. That was a lovely pick.

I haven't seen the racing in full yet but most people seem to be saying that Mikael would have won if he stayed up. I suppose the important thing for him now is to get a clear round in next time and then build on that. It does look like he'll be a quality chaser in time.

I agree with you about Kempes - I'm a huge fan of his. I'm sure he'll pop up and win some decent races in the future. Just have to make sure we're on at the right times!

Personally I think Hurricane has everything it takes to be a quality Champion Hurdler for a few years. Binocular is a brilliant horse but just not consistent enough. Would love to see Quevega race in with the boys.

Depends how he is after the fall, if all is fine I'd imagine WPM will want to get him out again asap

I didn't consider backing her until I saw she was 20/1...way too big. That quote is from the Down Royal meeting but just to show I'm not making it up :P I didn't back her that day and it made her price for today.

Great, hope hes fine. While watching the race, I was very surprised I got 6/4, it just seemed very easy for him, and id imagine 4 out 5 times he would have made that jump, reckon he'll win a few people a fortune in the future though.

Raging at Mikael. I did a treble with hurricane and zaidpour. I would not mind but i did a treble as cover with solwit!! At least I had the straight tricast in the hurdle and the straight forecast with golden and zaacinto with win bets on golden and hurricane and ews on voler and zaacinto. Good day could have been better. Had a few on mikael for rsa too, sadly before the race.

Off topic but very sad to hear about twist magic

She gave it a go at Punchestown and got put in her place.
She would be unplaced in a Champion hurdle unless it cut up badly imo.

MK seemed to jump the fence fine and was going to win as he liked i thought. Get him out again asap and hope it hasnt knocked his confidence.

Did anyone else notice the two gob****e photographers on the track just past the last, am I the only one that thinks that is dangerous. For me they are too close at fences when they are a foot from the rail.

Imagine being a jockey with your horse going to a fence and his eye gets caught by some goon with a camera and you get speared into the ground.

The lenses they had looked plenty big enough for standing outside the railing.

Oh as for Mikael, he got shortened from 9/1 to 7/1 by bet365 after the race, he looks a very smart jumper. Reminds me of Masterminded, very efficient over the fences

he looked class tbh.. i was at de fence where he fell he didnt make any mistake just jumped it so fast the momentum nuckled him on landing real novice mistake he looks a real deal

It was a great days racing and all but I hope it doesnt dilute the quality of the Grade1s at the Leopardstown Christmas festival.
