    Fair fucks to Charlie.
At least he chose a walk on part in the war instead of a lead role in a cage.

Gilmour values his Xmas cards above all else. He keeps them in a neat pile and if anyone goes near them he shouts"Keep your hands off my stack"

This thread syncs up perfectly with the "Wizard of OZ" if you start reading at the exact moment the MGM lion roars.

We thought it meant the lion character so we ended up watching the whole movie without playing the album.
    Waste of freaking time.

I reckon Charlie thought he was Learning to Fly when he was swinging out of that flag, but One Slip and it would have been Absolutely Curtains for him.

He probably considered it A Great Day for Freedom but I reckon his old man was Lost for Words when he heard about it. Anyone know how long he was On the Run before the Police caught up with him ? Either way, he has plenty of Money so something tells me he’ll have High Hopes of getting bail.

So much Young Lust, just shows that college can be The Happiest Days of Our Lives, especially when you see things like that In The Flesh. Apparently the Police shouted Hey You! when the saw him but he decided to Run Like Hell. Way to go Charlie, Shine on you Crazy Diamond... Have a Cigar !!

    Can’t wait for The Trial

    :pac:

he looked cool hanging out of that flag like he was storming the bastille but if ever anyone was begging for a fat lip when antagonizing the cops in full knowledge as a stooodent he wouldn't get one.. it were im.

Finding out he was a closet Hawkwind fan was actually worse than him going on reality TV.

Nearly all the "punks" turned out to be closet rockers, The Damneds Music For Pleasure (1977) album was produced by Nick Mason, they were big fans of Soft Machine. The Clash were happy to play Sandy Pearlman inspired stadium rock and so on.

    Twas all a con!

David Gilmour of Pink Floyd's Son has been caught up in the student protests in London,by all accounts a momentary lapse of reason on his part

Yeah. His biological father is a writer/actor called Heathcote Williams
but he walked out on Charlie's mother not long after the lad was born. David Gilmour adopted him at some stage - he's married to Charlie's mother. Ironically the lad might have achieved something that the rest of Pink Floyd never quite managed - to become household names in middle England. Errr....

but since the hardcore scene of the underground '80s punks that charted were considered rock stars. 'punk' became a DIY underground ethic even jello biafra got beaten up with accusations of rock star ringing in his ear so it appeared more elitism than anything else

Lydon was a big Bowie fan apparently - or was Bowie "kosher" for punks to like? A lot of punks seemed to appreciate Roxy and T Rex too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,366 ✭✭✭Star Bingo

they probs washed their hands of Bowie having been the catalyst for most of em in the 70s as impressionable kids. like most megastars from that decade he didn't adapt to the '80s too well, dancing in the street and the lawyer look but but Bowie prompted some good sh!t. possibly the most worthwhile influence in music but a lot of the underground postpunk goth deathrock from then is bowie inspired
