MilSim Dublin presents - Full Brazilian

In the shanty towns, or favelas, of Rio de Janeiro the drug gangs have held sway for many years. Recent police attempts to bring the favelas under control one at a time were responded to by extreme violence, and matters have escalated to the point where the police and army have joined forces to destroy the gangs. The drug gangs have put aside their differences and joined forces right back. For those stuck in the middle, life goes on... This is really happening!

    5254111752_9425582606.jpg

This is a full-day milsim that'll be held at HRTA on the bank holiday Monday the 3rd of January, developed by evilrobotshane and sliabh. Price will be 20 quid, assemble at 10 in the morning for briefings at 1030 and game on at 11. Combatant places are limited to 40.

The full details have yet to be worked out, but basically there'll be the police (black or grey uniform if possible, desert if not) and army (green camo) working toward roughly the same ends on one side, and two or three drug gangs (civvie or paramilitary gear, Hawaiian shirts ideal) on the other. There'll be multiple objectives, opportunities for full-on assaults and sneaky infiltrations, and a host of civilians running around to complicate matters. And let's not forget that your allies might not want exactly the same thing you do.

This game will require the use of non-winding magazines (with the exception of support guns) loaded to real ammunition capacities. It'll utilise advanced medic and gun hit rules. That's how we roll. Rules will be posted up here nearer the time, and if you'd like to play but have trouble getting the requisite kit together, we'll try to help you out!

More colour for the scenario, photos of the raids a few weeks ago. Kudos to anyone who turns up (in the January cold) dressed like the guys in the first photo.

As Shane said, and unlike the guy winding in this photo, no hi-caps :-)

Unfortunately the props budget won't cover enough coke to do a trained solicitor, so I'm afraid you're going to have to.

    You bet, thanks!

There's still a few weeks to the game so you've got time to do some shopping for regular magazines, or maybe you can borrow some from somebody you know. If you're stuck, let us know what types of guns you all are using and we might be able to scrounge some spare mags together for a loan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,440 ✭✭✭✭thermo

ill probably have 10-12 spare m4 mids and approx 7 aug mids,,,,,,,,,,, these can be borrowed.

ye, well if possible we will need some AK mid-caps, some m4 mags and at least 2 g36 mags as there is no point in us all going out buying them as we are based in Longford and it would be to much hassel. we are also between 14 and 16. Hope ye can help.
    Thanks

Lads, I think if you are going to play mil-sim you will need to buy the necessary mags yourselves. Some people are offering to help you out here, but ultimately you need to make sure you have the right gear for the game.

Most suppliers can get you what you need and if you order now you will have it well in time for January 3rd.

No kidding about the cops! I thought a bit of police brutality would be quite the draw - I'm fully intending on ripping off y'all's system for interrogations, so you may start pumping iron now to be ready in time. :)

Is this in addition to the three Marko mentioned, or just putting names on them?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 Sennin Riki

In addition, for now, unless marco says otherwise, i can only assume Paul is on that list... if not add Paul cause he will be there also!

HA pumping iron! I invented(exaggeration) that game! :P so i wont be needing any of your help with little toy boxes! :P

I've just been reading up more about the goings-on in the favelas, so I can get proper objectives and goals together. This is the police special ops crowd's logo:

    Caveira_bope.jpg

(and their motto, just so as not to send mixed messages, is "knife in the skull")

The gangs are great as well, they have a fairly elaborate music industry going just to promote themselves to potential members:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comando_Vermelho

(thanks to Sliabh for the legwork in seeking out info, he's the smart one)

I'm grabbing my lady and my snowboard and heading offline for the better part of a week tomorrow morning (or sitting in Dublin airport trying), so won't be able to answer queries on this until I get back.

I'd appreciate it if people could have a think about team affiliations in the meantime - I know it's nice to play with your little friends, but obviously the current line-up isn't going to make for a fun day of airsoft. One way or the other we're going to have to balance the teams, and if it's done now it means you can prepare a suitable costume and keep the atmosphere of the game, rather than having to do it on the day and stick armbands on people or whatever because we'd have to ignore uniform restrictions. Come on folks, if you won't do it for Shane, do it for yourselves. But doing it for Shane would be better!

Here's the factions, now they've been defined properly:

Police: Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais or B.O.P.E. (Special Police Operations Battalion) - elite police unit with a reputation for corruption. Black or grey uniforms if possible, desert camouflage if not. One player as the commander.

Army: Exército Brasileiro (Brazilian Army) - called in as the situation in Rio de Janeiro escalated to assist in urban pacification. Green camouflage uniforms. One player as the commander.

Drug producing gang: Comando Vermelho (Red Commandoes) - once the most powerful gang in the city and still a major player, with fingers in many pies including running their own self-promoting music industry. Civilian clothing, Hawaiian shirts ideal. One player as gang leader, two lieutenants.

Drug distributing gang: Amigos dos Amigos (Friends of Friends) - relative newcomers to the scene with a strong turf area in the city and a score to settle with the police. Civilian clothing with paramilitary accoutrements (chest rigs, etc.). One player as gang leader, two lieutenants.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 221 ✭✭Jules.Winnfield

Actually you can add +1 for me, but he'd probably be most likely wanting in on the gangs (he's been working on the loadout since I told him about the game) and still in need of a lift from blanch if anyone is offering :p

No worries, anybody with a thematic load-out of course gets first call on the day.

Anybody able to help these guys out with lifts? Are you guys able to get anywhere more central on the bus or whatever if it comes to it?

    Of course.

Thanks! I suppose it'd be best if possible if anyone who doesn't mind balancing numbers can bring a couple of different sets of clothes (after all, we all own civvies and camo).
