Digital piano - weight has detached from key :(

    Hey folks,

I have the Thomann DP-30 (cheapo ;)) digital piano:

Unfortunately after about 9 months one of the weights detached from a key, and now, while the key still works, you have to press down hard and it fvcks me up a bit, especially since I'm only learning :p

Anywho -- Thomann said that they'd repair it as it was still under warranty, but as I was going away to Oz at the time I didn't want to leave it to my folks to organise it, so I said I'd just leave it.

At this point I'm going home (tomorrow!), and the piano is out of warranty, and the key is still FUBAR :( So does anyone know how easy it is to rip up one of those keys (gracefully) so that I could repair it myself? Or do ye know anyone in Dublin who would repair it for cheap enough?

I also have a rather far-fetched idea, so hear me out :p You can buy these 'strong earth magnets' online for cheap enough... The weights are presumably metal, so ye reckon that'd work? :p Think the weights might be lead though, which I don't think responds to magnetic fields...

    Cheers all

Thomann have 3 year warranties on everything, are you certain it's out of warranty?

If not, you would be better off finding someone handy who can open it up and epoxy the weight onto wherever it came from (If it's a weight and not some resistance spring mechanism).

See if Thomann will agree to have someone in Ireland repair it for you - the idea of arranging postage of that back & forth to Germany seems a bit OTT in terms of cost - it might be cheaper for them to have someone here do it (even if it is Rip-off Ireland!).
