How much water dose snow leave behind?

1inch of snow is the same as ? inch's of rain.

Is there a way of working it out?

    Thanks.

get a 1L jug of snow and bring it inside for a bit and you'll have the answer. :)

there's a lot of variables depending on the density of the snow itself which can vary quite a lot, but a good indicator would be 10-12" of snowfall would be equiv. of only 1-2" of rain.
