Was hoping to start a bit of mink trapping. I was going to get the Fenn Mk6 trap for the job as it despatches straight away. Theres the live cage trap too but whats the best way to despatch them if caught in this. I have shotgun and .22lr rifle. Im woundering if anyone ere uses a Fenn and caught anything they shouldnt…

Taking into account that our club catches between 40 to 50 mink per year, this shows that just because your not seeing mink, that doesn't mean that there isn't mink in your area!

You say the nearest river to where you spotted the mink is about 2klm's away!
I guarantee you that there is a small stream of some sort close to where you spotted him! and most streams, especially those which are running into larger waterways, will have plenty of mink on them!

Set a couple of cages in the area, bet you'll get a couple within a few day's!!;)
