    Hey,

I'm getting married in July next year but don't want to lose weight exactly...just want to tone up and allow for extra indulgences over Xmas, Easter and other special occasions between now and the wedding..

Just wondering if anyone has any tips regarding fitness and diet for the next 8 months or so?

Make sure you're not afraid to get a decent weight-lifting programme, plenty of squats, lunges, deadlifts to tone up the ol' Orse.

Toning up = equals losing weight.

You may not be overweight as such, but toning up = losing some fat to show off your muscles a bit more :)

Think of the next 8 months as 'you get out what you put in'. Literally. The kind of diet you have and the amount/quality of exercise you do will show in how you look on the big day.

A broad answer to a broad question. Do you do sports, work out regularly?

I actually took a toning class on Monday in the gym - couldn't walk till today coz everywhere from the waist down was hurting like crazy!!!

Just hope I can keep either the same size or just trimmer but not drastically so my dress still fits...I love how it fits now but like any bride, could tone up the whole arms now to make it look a bit better ;)

a spinning class or dance class twice a week should be perfect , whats great is you havent left it too late , also tweek your diet, as in try cut the fast food down to maybe only once a week. you will lose weight/ tone up gradually therefore more likely to stay that way even though its all apparently down hill once rings are passed. good luck with it:D

Try a course of Endermologie, once or twice a week for 6-8 weeks.
Its absolutely brilliant for toning and inch loss. I have just finished a course
(in Temple Spa, Moate) to fit into my LBD for Christmas.

If you havent been doing much exercise up until now Id keep it very simple...find a game/sport/physical activity thats challenging that you enjoy and do it say 3 times a week. after 6 weeks decide how its going and change as you see fit.
most people quit or half ass it cos they dont enjoy it so make enjoyment a priority especally at the beginning, also consider your diet, if it needs work gradually but consistently make improvements.
the good news is it can actually be fun! :D

As this poster said...toning up = losing bodyfat whilst retaining muscle. This is predominantly achieved by altering certain aspect of your daily diet in conjunction with weights and cardio.

What's your daily diet like and have you ever considered lifting some weights?

Thanks for that Mr./Mrs. Temple Spa Moate with your 2 posts. Adverts.ie is here:

In any case that wouldn't be a good choice for the OP who'd burn more cals sitting on the jacks. All other advice so far is way better.

totally disagree - exercise more and eat right.

Get into doing more home based workouts also
