The Christmas Tree Farm in Glencullen is open for business. Near Johnnie Foxes - signposted in the area. Pick out your own tree and they cut it and wrap it there and then for you.

    All sizes €30

Wear your boots though, its a bit snowy. Should be more easily accessible by this weekend assuming a bit of a thaw.

I'm going to ask you if you know what trees they are? This offer is looking brilliant so far. Noble Fir by any chance?

Going to head up there, what's the average size of the trees on offer?

    cheers

They have all sizes - I got an 8ft tree and a family member picked out a 14 foot tree which he then trimmed a few feet off for her.

I'm afraid I have no idea what type they are though.

Presumably the trees for €15 are miles from Dublin ? if not please let us know ...

This is the first year I had to buy my own tree.

I couldn't believe the price! I remember them being sold on the side of the roads for £10!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,530 ✭✭✭TheInquisitor

This is in no way a bargain. Max a tree should cost is E15. A five foot tree over here in the UK is £5, a six foot tree is £7 and a 7 foot tree is £10.

Someone said they paid E50 for a tree???? Thats just madness!!!

Oh great, thanks for the info. I'll get a boat over and pick up my tree, should make a massive savi........wait a minute, that wont work at all:rolleyes:

A tree costs what a tree costs, we don't decide the price. In dublin 40 -50 has been the going price for good 7 foot tree in previous year. You want one, you pay.

    Supply and demand baby:p

That's classic!:D:D The IMF are in town, most people are up to their necks in debt and the denial goes on. It's not a bargain, the bubble has burst. pay that for a tree if you want, but I can and will get cheaper and everyone should do likewise.People need to get real about prices in Ireland. Step 1 is not to call things a bargain when actually they are a rip-off!

    €12 - €15 locally, Meath, €30 doesn't sound like a bargain at all.

€30 would be a bargain in Kildare. Haven't seen anything cheaper than €35, and they're mostly crappy looking.

Paid 50 in dublin also, first year buying one and nearly choked on the price!

That said, she's a beauty! Saw fakies for €35 and they were while looking, you can't beat the rel thing!

    Where?

Not one person has posted a cheaper tree in the Dublin region than the OP, yet some people seem to be using this thread to vent some pent up Scrooge like anger at Christmas.

And as for the 5ft Christmas Tree in the UK - the IMF might be in the country but I'd rather cancel Christmas altogether than have a 5ft tree - a Christmas tree must touch the ceiling !!

Once again, thanks to Limestone1 for posting this interesting Bargain, which not only provides a cheap tree, but also a Christmassy experience which you can do with your Family - what is better than going to the woods with the kids (or big kids!) and picking out your own tree?

Define locally, so I can get in my car and bolter your local economy rather than my rip off one.

Not necessarily a bargain but for anyone looking in the city centre they have them for €40 in the area between Jervis and Four Courts Luas stops (you think I'd know what it's called by now!) - the fruit'n'veg market area!

    It is what it's.

7 - 8ft tree with stand for €55 in the Beacon, Sandyford.

    €30 seems pretty dam good

The Petrol Station on right hand side heading out of town on the Rock Road just after Tara Towers had a sign up saying 7" Noble Firs for €35.

What? Looking for a bargain! What are you doing here, looking to argue?

My post was mearly supporting the OP, that 30 is what I would consider a bargain, especially in around dublin as in previous years 50 seemed the going rate. I really assumed that was clear.

The poster before had decided to let us the the UK price, which could be more irrelevant than here, on an Irish forum.

    Does that help?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 358 ✭✭milkycoffey

Ranelagh village market selling the. Smallest ones are about 30. That's for one around 4-5 feet. That's still expensive enough though.
The big ones are beautiful looking though i must say. Don't know the price though.
Dying to know where the lads are getting them for €20 and less!

What are the roads up to the place in Glencullen like? Relatively ok? I drive a small car so transporting a Christmas tree will be tricky enough, let alone with some ice on the road to contend with!

Went up to Glencullen on the back of Limestone1's recommendation this afternoon. Roads were totally clear, no problem at all.
First time I've picked a tree that was still in the ground, great fun, three-year-old was thrilled with the experience.

I'll be back there next year...

    Thanks Limestone1!
