What to eat before early morning run

Due to change in work timetable (and beggars can't be choosers) the only time I have during the week to run is in the morning. I try to get out for a run at 7am and do about 8 kms, 3 days a week, leaving the gym for the weekend. I eat a good breakfast after and feel ok as the rest of my day is spent indoors and feel as if I have achieved something other than just work all day.
The problem is that I know my energy levels aren't very high so early in the morning and while I can do the run, I know from personal experience I felt better when working out later in the day or the evening.
I have read that it's a bad idea to work out on an empty stomach but there's no way I can get up even earlier to have a breakfast and then wait for it to digest before hitting the roads.
Can anybody make any recommendations re. food/nibble to eat to give me an energy boost as I would like to improve rather than just plod along? A big dinner in the evening is a no no as I get home in the evenings at 10pm and prefer a full lunch rather than eat late.

200-300ml of an isotonic drink as you fall out of bed. By the time you have your gear on and are warmed up it'll be hitting your bloodstream.

I can't run before breakfast myself. I mean I can...I just hate it.

Thanks..will give it a try (and hope I don't feel the need to pee when in middle of run!!These drinks do that to me). At times like that wish I were a man!

Haha. Don't worry, you're slightly dehydrated in the morning when you wake up anyway, just make sure you pee before you go running. :D
