I pulled my back slightly while doing deadlifts, at the start it wasn't too bad at all, but every morning when i wake up it seems to get worse, could it be the way i'm sleeping? What are you meant to do to recover from back injurys?

Had the same problem myself recently and it was all down to my form and flexibility issues which had gone unnoticed over the years. I'm now relearning my technique whilst keeping the weight light, and also doing alot of mobility work. You can get away with crappy technique up to a point, but the last thing you want to be doing is lifting heavy the wrong way - take it from me:o It's a tricky one because you can think it's grand until you move a certain way, and then it's fecking killing ya!

The weak points that are affecting your deadlift are probably also transferring on to your other lifts, so your best bet is to go to a good coach/PT first of all and get your technique checked, and then you can decide based on that if you need to go to a physio.

I am having a similar problem at the moment with my DL. Where can I find a coach to advise me on my technique because the trainers at my gym are not the best?

It depends where you're based, are you in Dublin? I train out in Informed Performance in Glasnevin so it'd be the first place I'd recommend. The coach there sometimes posts here if you want to drop him a pm - Will Heffernan.

Doctor first, coach second. This thread breaks the medical advice rule so I have to close it.
