    "Dear colleagues

All scheduled DCU activities are cancelled from 4.00pm this evening until noon tomorrow.
A notice will be posted on the DCU homepage at 11am tomorrow morning to advise all of
    arrangements thereafter.

I encourage staff and students to take due account of weather conditions this evening when
planning the time at which they decide to leave campus.

    Many thanks
    President's office"

Does this mean academic stuff is cancelled too as it's coming from the president and not just the SU?

The President has emailed everyone saying "all DCU activities" have been cancelled between 4pm today and noon tomorrow, with another update at 11am. I'm assuming lectures is included in that but might be a good idea to double check with your lecturers.

The gym and library are closing at 8 and 9 respectively, but that was before the Presidents email so I dont know if that has changed.

The loans office in the Henry Grattan will more than likely remain closed tomorrow, and from the looks of the forecast that could be the case for a lot more offices around campus.

Lectures better be included in that!

Have had lectures on both Thursday afternoon and Friday morning cancelled already. If the overnight snow is as heavy as predicted I can't see any events at all taking place tomorrow.

Indeed, I was just over there a few minutes ago. Roads are pretty bad over there so I think it's the right decision.

They probably should have said explicitly that all buildings were to be locked down though. I wasn't really sure if people would have access to their offices/labs etc.

I'm not the only one that made that mistake, I met a couple of lecturers there who weren't sure either and made the journey in thinking that the buildings would be open and would have access to their offices.

It's possible a separate email was sent around saying this but I didn't get it. Though it does say this in the email sent at around 10.40 this morning. Which was about 5 minutes too late for me :) I was already skating my way over at that point.

I presume the library is closed too and overdue books won't be fined. Anyone tried to go to the library?

I have a book that was due back on the 29th but I couldn't make it in to DCU because of the weather conditions, I am going to refuse to pay the fine.

    Dear all,

Taking account of the ongoing weather conditions, the current state of the
campus roads and paths, and the weather forecast for tonight, it has been
decided that the university will remain closed tomorrow (Friday December
    3rd).

Further updates on weekend arrangements will be posted on the DCU website
as early as possible tomorrow afternoon.

I am hopeful that we can return to normal activity and schedules on Monday
next but will advise you on this issue over the weekend.

I hope that you are all managing to stay safe and well through these awful
    conditions.

    Best wishes
    Brian

Well thats us done for the week so, those of you who had library books out you shouldn't owe anything so refuse to pay if they ask for it. Not your fault the college is closed.

so with DCU closed again on friday, does that mean there will be another week delay to societies getting funding?

    From the DCU Library Blog
Whenever the campus is closed, the Library will also be closed. However, there is no need to worry about being charged fines because you couldn’t get your books/DVDs back on the due date, if the due date fell during the closures.

Don’t forget, though, you can renew online, through your Library account, as long as you do it before midnight on the due date.

Please keep an eye on your DCU mail and on the DCU homepage for updates on closures.

    Keep safe and warm!

Get to my books all weekend now, happy days.

I renewed my books online but I got an email wednesday to say a book I reserved had come in and I didn't see it til after everything was shut down.

Anyways I went wandering round DCU yesterday, think some people still thought they cause access their offices as there was a few people around. The bookshop and pharmacy appeared to be opened strangely! Oh and a lot of stray snowballs flying round. Doesn't look like much as changed today.
