    Morning all!

The annual A+A drinks will be happening on 17th of December, in the Duke on Duke Street, just off Grafton St from half eight onwards. All are welcome!

Things to celebrate this year are:

    1. A+A is now the biggest and baddest forum in the religious section!
    2. Our very own creationism thread!
    3. Ratzinger still in charge of the Vatican
    4. Some very odd thoughts
    5. Joe Coleman still at it.

Post a quick note here if you reckon you can make it along :)

    I'll decide around 7pm on the 17th ;)

My personal attendance of this event is in the balance, I have however given it my blessing and indeed have sacrificed two goats and a virgin to ensure it goes well for those present.

Bit of a serial lurker here, but I've been unlucky with dates alot. If I am in Ireland, I plan to attend. :)

Perhaps, and maybe a few virgins. :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,892 ✭✭✭ChocolateSauce

I'd offer to bring the cheese, but thanks to the government I'm sure you'll all be able to bring your own. ;)

That date is smack in the middle of my exam period (in fact that morning at 9am I've got a "metals in biology" exam), but I'll try to attend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,115 ✭✭✭✭bnt

I have an exam the following afternoon at 3PM, but I'll try and make it. I'll be up to my elbows in various Materials, and suspect I'll be in need of a few hours off by then.

Where the hell did you get your hands on a virgin?
    I call shenanigans!

I will decide nearer the time, it all depends on the recovery period from the work party the week before v my humour at the time.....

I don't know - once the Beatles went mainstream and became more popular than Jesus, the writing was on the wall.

Edit: Once again, the Swedes leave us standing when it comes to restoring goat worship at the heart of Christmas: the Gavle Christmas goat is back - see it now before it burns.

As yet another infrequent poster continually confounded by clashing dates, I might just make this one!

What is the official atheist alternative to "Oh sweet jaysus, take me now!" as I hang onto the toilet bowl later that night?

    We're a co-operative lot -- you could try "Here's fifty; next round is on me! <urrggghh, yfffppllpppl> <splat>"

I will be heading home for a party on the 18th but I might stay in Dublin for Friday the 17th.

    Party hats type gig ?

If anyone wants a lift northside afterwards. Mr. Designated Driver (myself, before you ask) will have room for a few.

I could pop along, depending on whether I have money, would probably be leaving early though.

Doubt I can make it - have to be up absurdly early for work the following morning. If I can, I'll swing by for one before I go home to be a saddo and sleep on a Friday night.

So....should I bring a fun hat? Or just my regular one?

I can now inform the gathering of an increase in my odds of going from possibly not to probably.

    Oh that's this friday!
Yeah I am still not sure... but I would like to

I'm flying in from Germany that night.

Such is my frustration at being abroad for the last 4 or 5 of these I'm thinking of coming in straight from the airport.

If the flights delayed though (which is very possible, seeing as it is snowing here right now and the weather's supposed to turn nasty there) I won't be able to make it.

I'd like to pop in, but my friend's got a gig that night so I'll most likely be going to that.

wonder how many 'converts' we'll get this year

I will be 3 hours into a 12 pubs at that stage and probably looking to clock off for the night. So I might pop in. Not that I'll recognise anyone...

Please don't give up on god or heaven. I know that it may seem easier to believe that nothing after life exists. but miricles have happened & do happen all the time. life can be so tough - horrendous sometimes but please keep the faith, this really is only a journey to something better. Just give god a second chance - there really is nothing to loose.

Now there's someone who doesn't understand the first thing about atheism ...

Will there be some way of identifying you guys? I've had this problem before, when trying to meet a bunch of strangers in a busy pub. Don't know the pub, never mind where the "same spot" is ...

Galvasean will be bringing his rubber triceratops which, all going well, should be the only one in the pub (unless some religious people are watching and want to cause some trouble...)

Alternatively, I'll be wearing a black shirt and -- if I can grab one -- a dog collar.

But perhaps the easiest way is to stand in the middle of the pub and say loudly "Ah, JC, is that you?" and see who runs for the hills.

What time is all this happening? I thought I'd drop in and share the apple tart that I was given a present of today, if anyone happens to like apple tart.

I'll be in about 10 ish after work. That three pronged rhino will be looked for.

Enjoy the night lads. Really sore about missing it but I don't have enough "green cards" this time of year to cover all the required drinking sessions. :o

(Also am hanging after my work party last night!)

    Have a great one!

So yeah, in probably my most dramatic U-turn ever, I won't be there tonight. Even though just hours ago I said I was pretty much ready to be there, I have experienced a sudden decline in my energy. Having just worked for 13 of the last 15 days, including three life-defining exams and 8 consecutive 14-hour days, I'm now going to bed for hopefully the next 16 hours.

So having loved the last AA beers, I wish you all a wonderful night and send my sincere regrets for failing to darken your doorstep tonight. If I went I'd be wrecked and I wouldn't be able to say very much.

Awww bless, you're cute...Can we keep him Robin? I promise I'll walk him every day.

I've got my gf's family over tonight but if they are suitably drunk early enough I might hop in a taxi to town under some pretense or another. So if you happen to see someone with a black eye and a shaved head with a look on their face like they might be trying to spot a triceratops, give me a call over.

Nope - I was in there about quarter to nine, covered upstairs and downstairs as best I could, but the place was far too crowded. No triceratops or other visible signs of you guys. The only one of you I've met before pulled out, so I don't know what any of you look like. Second time that's happened.

In any case, how the hell are you supposed to socialise in a place like that? You can't move for people clogging the aisles, you can't hear a word over the noise from everyone else yapping away at top volume. Maybe it's because I'm not Irish, but that was an extremely unpleasant environment.
