Can any Maynoothians let us down the country know what the weather is like up there. Westmeath has disappeared under all this white stuff so college out for us today.

I love the snow. And that snowball fight yesterday was some laugh.

    Any pics of the fight?

Any lectures going on amid all the snow frivolity? I know a day of exams got cancelled in January but is it likely lectures will get the chop if this continues?

None of my lectures or tutorials so far have been cancelled - most of them still seem to be on really.

Library will close at 6pm again due to the weather. A quick look at the RTE Weather forecast indicates things are to continue or get worse for the time being. Perhaps we will receive emails this evening if anything will be cancelled.

I couldn't get in today as the bus was cancelled.
If lecturers are cancelled will we be told or have to fight our way in before we hear?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,810 ✭✭✭Seren_

I imagine the lecturer would put it up on moodle, or send an email. They would probably have an idea the night before whether or not they'd be able to make it in.

Keep your eye on moodle and the department websites. One of mine is cancelled today, plus tutorials in that module for the whole week.

The snow is getting to be quite annoying.

Gonna chance getting the 66 in a bit, will it be futile?
Otherwise will have to get 2 trains......LAME!

    Still, love the snow!!!

I don't think the 66 is running, they cancelled all buses earlier but a few are operating on limited routes and the 66 wasn't in the list.

    From dublinbus.ie:
    A very limited service currently operating on Routes 7, 13, 15, 16, 19(northside Only) 20, 27, 31, 40, 41, 45, 46a, 65, 65b, 77, 102, 128, 140, 145, 150,

Just got an email from the registrar, all classes cancelled for tomorrow, 2nd December.

What are my chances on getting a bus to Dublin tomorrow, or will I have to get the train? :P

Lot of snow on the campus today... quite deep in places, I'd suggest staying in bed and waiting until it goes away.

University closed from 1 today until Monday.

    Dear Staff & Students,

Because of weather conditions affecting Maynooth and the prospects of
further snow tomorrow morning, the University will close from 1pm this
afternoon and will remain closed until Monday 6th December.

The University has taken this decision in the interests of the safety
of students and staff, and the University apologises for any
    inconvenience caused by this decision.

    Yours sincerely,

So does this mean everything is closed? Arts Block too? Think I left a book I need for my essay in my locker :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,338 ✭✭✭squishykins

It's actually quite urgent, would love to stay in bed though :P Just checked dublin bus, no buses coming here, and it's not gonna be updated till half 3 -_- Train it is so!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,338 ✭✭✭squishykins

And as I speak, they update it :P Naw it's cool, buses are running, just passing Lucan :P

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,810 ✭✭✭Seren_

^ Train would probably get you into Dublin a lot quicker than the bus too.

I don't know whether to go home or not tomorrow... It would be very likely that I'll end up getting stranded in Sligo, but I have an appointment I need to go to. But that could even end up being cancelled too. Decisions!

I better leave before one so or else it'll be me and the Logic snowmen here for the weekend :D

Arts Block is still open, security would let you if it wasn't (They are based inside)

Most Offices/ Departments and services will be closed. With the few obvious exceptions (Apartments Offices, Maintenance, Conference and Accommodation)

"Closed until Monday" - are they saying, provisionally, there will be lectures on Monday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 970 ✭✭✭lemansky

I'd say that they're assuming they'll be open* again on Monday. Though its meant to get worse, so who knows! It'll probably be all made clear in an e-mail sent at 23:59 on sunday night.

*today it was technically open, but no lectures etc, so they may mean it in that sense? I'm going to assume they mean business as normal though.

Will the computer room in the Arts block be open. Have an assignment thata I was hoping to get started an over the weekend and it's on SPSS so I can only do it there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 970 ✭✭✭lemansky

Well they said that the University would be closed, as opposed to classes just being cancelled, as was originally the case for today. So you'd imagine that everything would be shut. But Rob will know the definite answer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,487 ✭✭✭banquo

Sorry, just saw this! Arts block PACR (computer room) and Internet hub are both open as normal.
