front page is the same as an inside pic.... large or small.... the only paper that pay space rate (by the size) is "the Irish Sun" .....as for the amount - depends on the photographer and any agreements with various papers.

(I'm not going to say an actual amount that I invoice for but in general the papers pay approx €70ish for on spec images printed....some papers pay more, some pay less.... I've had invoices cut by a couple of hundred in the past and if you question it - you find that the next month you don't get as many images printed...so its a choice of take the hit or cut them from your supply - of course this is for regular contributors !!)

    Lovely capture, well done.

I'd be interested to know more about the circumstances, was the dolphin jumping for a while and you had time to prepare or was it just a happy one off?

He was one of a pod of three that spent about an hour swimming around playing and (I presume) feeding in that corner of the bay. They came in to within about twenty feet of us at times. Very hard to get good shots as they would just jump out suddenly and be back underwater in a second and then appear again hundreds of yards away. I took a load of shots and that one was the best!

Probably a very stupid question but how do you get your pictures in the paper?

Do you just send images to them you think they might use or do upload to a stock agency?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,463 ✭✭✭Antomus Prime
