Hey there, first post here

Anyway, I was looking to buy a set of dumbbell weights to use at home, before Christmas.I looked in the Argos catalogue but they didn't really have much of a choice.

Could anyone tell me if theres a shop in town(Dublin) where I could buy a set of weights or individual dumbells ? I was looking for between 5kg and 25kg, preferably within €80-120 price range. A shop or website that delivers would be grand.

Any input would be helpful.

give art of fitness a try they have just got in a new supplier of dumbbells from 2-45kg they also have power blocks.

they have a new range in and its very cheap not on the website yet but if you call in or phone you can get much better prices

argos do a great range of metal plate dumbells. Used mine for years, no issues. You can also get cheap sets at Tesco extra's. you can buy the bars and weights all seperatley so you can buy 4 bars and have 2 set up to minimize any interchanges.

Thanks for all the replies, keep 'em coming. I'm thinking now of just getting a bench, with a pair of 5kg, 10kg and 15kg dumbbells.

Depends on what your going to use them for but I'd say you'll out grow those very quickly especially the 5's and 10's. Best bet is to buy a cheapish set from argos and get some extra 5's for the bar.

Actually check out Irish Lifting, they have a pair of standard handles and you can then get whatever combination of plates you want

in time i guarantee more and more people will NOT buy dumbbells/barbells for home workouts and buy the following -

- foam roll
- iron woody bands
- two kettlbells (12 and 16kg for women and 16 and 24kg for men)
- a chin up bar
- a good mat

I got a great set of adjustable dummbells from irish lifting that go up to 40kg per hand - virtually never used as I use all of the above.

Yeah, that list is fine and all for "metcons", but I'm sure that plenty of people would get a lot out of a set of dumbells over bands and 2 kettlebells.

Donedeal or buy&sell.ie. Recycle someone else old weights for a reasonable cost.
