Upper body bigger - now hard to find shirts that fit

    Hi,

I thought it would be more appropriate to post this here rather than the fashion forum.

I have put on some upper body mass in last few months due to working out. My problem is I am now struggling to find decent , reasonably trendy shirts ( i.e. the type to wear out at the weekend) that fit me.

Until recently I used to be XL, but now to my surprise I cant really fit into diesel, zara, calvin klein, lyle and scott, scotch and soda and a few others at that size. The fit on them can look ok at a glance, but even with the first and second button undone, there tends to be a bulge in the shirt sticking out from the second down to third button, which can poke out, so they are not really suitable any more. Even some zara XXL are a bit tight.

I tried size 6 Ted Baker, they seem to just about fit but I am not really a fan of their overall fit.

The ironic thing is I reckon I am far from barrel chested, but I have however become broader overall, in terms of wider shoulders, if that makes sense. ( I am about 6 foot 1" and would still consider myself slim build overall, thats why its a bit puzzling!)

I wonder have some posters here had similar problems, and if so have they any recomendations of brands, and where they can be bought in Dublin? To reiterate, I mean reasonably fashionable shirts for a 30 something like me :-)

    bimb

I think this would be better suited in Fashion and Appearance. Let me know (by PM) if you want it moved there.

    go into a mens shop.
a proper mens shop and ask for shirts a size bigger, i.e. XXL but that are tapered.

Although they can be pricey enough, I find Guide of London to be a good brand

Personally I just get them custom made online. Perfect fit once you do your measurements correctly and great quality with similiar or cheaper prices than the likes of CK, depending on where you go.

Jesus OP, its not really that difficult..

I'm not the smallest guy in the world and never have a problem finding nice shirts with a good fit.

A little advice, leave Diesel and all that small gay-man gear to the little lads.. Their XL is about S in bleed'n Pennys!.

Nope, all of my friend in their early 20's have some clothing from Penny's.

Find the shirt you want and pick the size that fits across your shoulders then get the baggy bits taken in. Will cost about a fiver a shirt and most dry cleaners will also have an alterations service

I'm a big guy. Especially in the upper body and i rarely struggle to find clothes. I'd agree with staying away from those pussy brand xl sizes. My hole are they really xl. Strangely the only thing i struggle with are jean sizes in the waist. Even though i measure 34 exactly with a tape i sometimes struggle to fit into a size 36. Only certain brands though.
