BSL 1 Begins! Gameweeks 1 & 2 fixtures

Rules:

• If one player disconnects within 3 minutes of the beginning the map will be replayed. If the same player disconnects again the option to replay again or not will be up to their opponent, who will receive a default win otherwise.
  
  
• In the case of players failing to organise their match by the end of the gameweek the admins will intervene and pick an appropriate time in the next 3 days of the following gameweek for the match to be played. If no suitable time can be found the player who was less flexible with when they could play will forfeit.
  
  
• Replays must be saved by both parties.
  
  
• If any issues crop up they will be decided upon by Tayto, dest, Furyio and myself.
  
  
• And of course, be mannered to your fellow gamer
  
  
• Observers are permitted if the players both agree, or in the case of the 2v2s everyone agrees.
  
  
• Matches by default are best of 1. However, if both sides agree you can settle it in a best of 3. To keep consistency in the league table, any best of 3 will count as a 1-0 win for map difference.

Going to give these first two weeks to get the results in for these, just as there's a bit of short notice for gameweek 1. Also after these matches let us know if you think two gameweeks per week would be possible. It'd be only 2-4 games per week since they're best of 1 and it would halve the time it will take to finish the league. Also feedback on the 2v2 games would be nice. If you're having problems arranging your teams we can take control and just cycle through the players in the 2v2s per week.

Jungle Basin is pretty Zerg favoured IMO, either that or I'm just really bad at that map!

Nah, Protoss rape us on it. Terran to a lesser extent. Jungle Basin is an automatic vote down on ladder for Zerg, just so hard to get a third on it.

Yup, Jungle Basin feels like it should be Zerg friendly, what with its easy Natural, but getting and holding the third hatchery is next to impossible. The backdoor is handy though if the other fella leaves it unguarded.

How about all players set up their own google calendar and mark in the times they're available to play. Then you can invite your opponent to a game time via gmail and they can accept or decline. This way its easy for everybody to work around one anothers schedules.

Obviously it would require all players to get a gmail account if they don't already have one. But anybody that has used gmail and google calendar will agree it's a nice set up. And could work really well for this.

If you already have a gmail and calendar set up, it wouldn't affect your private calendar, as you just set up a seperate calendar in settings and call it lets say 'BSL'. You set this calendar to public so everybody can see it. And you set your other calendars to private if you wish so nobody sees your business meetings and dentist appointments

I guess that is down to each team.

I was approached this morning asking to play my game tonight, it suits me, so why not

Obviously it would be cool to have al lthe game son one night, but its a flixible league, thats the point, so if you can arrange your 1v1's on your own, I dont see a problem with this.

Flexability is key, getting six people together on one night for a few hours can be tough working to everyones schedule.

So I don't see a problem. I would however encourage teams supporting each other and spectators

So it looks like the leagues first game kicks off tonight, with a bit of luck we might get a small crowd

After each match, both players involved must send an email to the admin team ( address is above, if not ill append it)

This should be something along the following.

Gameweek 1
Player a Vs Player b

Player A wins
*Replay attached*

Simple as.

It ensures we can keep track of the results, get confirmation from both parties and have the replays for review if neccesary.

I would imagine that we can throw BSL replays into a new thread, or perhaps into an existing one.

Btw guys I'd like to just announce that I'm not going ahead with the mailing list, very few signups, I'm stretched thin as it is so I wont be doing it. We can just keep this forum lively with updates etc

Agree between yourselfs, if we see someone being excluded from the 2v2 games, we will ask to have them included, unless they have a phobia of 2v2 and will die as a consequence, its for laughs lads , get everyone involved

Yea Grime I'm kinda hoping teams don't just pick their two best players every time. Wanted to leave it up to the teams since some people might not like 2v2 and some really do. We'll see how it goes but it'd be nice if people mix it up.

Updated the rules about the format. It's best of 1 by default but if both players agree it's okay to do it by best of 3. But with regard to map difference in the league it will only count as 1-0.

For those looking to obs I'd recommend idling on irc. I was hoping to apply for a league sub-forum to spam a thread for every matchup every week but forum requests are closed at the moment. It'd be nice but I think doing it in the regular board would clog it up a bit :x

Would have liked to know that rule before I played my match, would have defo gone bo3 :P ( Especially consdiering I was just in from work and the first game I played, was my BSL)

Lost my first game anyways, put on some early pressure, felt comfy getting a second expo up early, but some good forcefield play destroyed me, well done to puzl.

Look forward to my second match to get going. At this stage, I'll probably ask every opponent for best of 3, makes for better matches

For gameweek 3 and 4 can we change the map rules so that everybody is playing the same maps and either bo1 or bo3?

Have to agree there, I'd like to see a cement on being bo1 or bo3, still a "little" peed mine was bo11 while everyone else did bo3, granted i might well have still lost

I walked in from a long shift, onto the pc, played a game and thats me done : /

I'll have a word with Funky, perhaps put it out to a vote, from looking at things most games are being organised per game, not a full team v team night which was originally thought, so this leads there to be time for a bo3 on1v1's imo.

I still like the mixup in matches though, dont see that as a huge issue

Indeed. Outplayed on both matches. A loss for Team 9. Enjoyable though.

Game 1: Wanted to drop but was boxed in by those marauding mutas.

Game 2: Though he was teching up, dropped in to see the baneling nest, so thought go for that. Just then, a ball of red appeared at my base on the minimap!!

Tayto was in touch last night and it seems the only suitable time is really Sunday evening for gameweek 2's 2v2

GG there. TvT is my worst matchup and ive always gone heavy tank. I need to practice some heavy marine builds, they rip threw tanks with upgrades and some medivacs

Good to watch some other Terran players. I don't watch all that many games so interesting to see your tactics of not much base defence but a merrandering army that are both attack and defence.

I think I have been spending too much time concentrating on battening down the hatches so to speak. Slowly learning

I have to say that it felt alot tighter.

There was only certain points I felt ahead. I felt behind all through the second game ( just realised I only uploaded one replay doh)

Third game I felt ahead throughout although trying to get through the choke to your natural is tough with tanks.

When I scanned your third expansion I assumed you would go storming to defend it, so I sat at the xel naga hoping your tnaks would go buy unsieged.

I'm using Marines alot more in TvT because of their mobility, ease of creation and the strength of them with upgrades.

They were good games and I have to say it could have swung either way. I felt personally I played 3 of my strongest games in terms of micro and macro and general decision making.

So thanks for pushing me to my limit

TvT is one of the most interesting matchups for me, because there is so much diversity.

Game one I did well with a banshee harassing and moving into heavy tanks and marines.

Game two Thors were introduced that were devastating

Game three heavy marines won it for me.



The thing to remember that in TvT, most people use tanks. Tanks are EXTREMELY slow to move. Marines and medivacs allow for mobility which can be devastating.
