While I wait on hold for UPC I thought it might be worth asking this question on here as Ill probably get a faster response ;)

Two items on my bill I was wondering could anyone shed any light on:

Extra Basic TV Point: 3.50 (2.89 ex Vat): What is this any why am I paying for it?

Additional Cable Digital Max: 8.49 (7.02 ex Vat): I only have that big silver monstrosity for my second box; basic digital, no plus or HD. According to their website that costs an extra fiver a month, so where are they getting 7.02 ex VAT from?

Had a similar query and sent them an email to explain why I am on a higher rate to the advertised one. Reply was, upgrade to get new rates. Can't though as my area doesn't have HD.

So it turns out that the extra €3.50 is for the basic 16 analogue channels on the 3rd point. I wanted the 3rd point so I could have the option of bringing one of the boxes into the bedroom if Im in bed sick or whatever; I explained this to them on the phone and was told nothing about a monthly charge when I was getting it installed. Is this normal behaviour; to be charged a monthly fee to have a socket in the room?

Im getting very fed up with UPC sales team not being upfront about all charges involved in something. When I ask "how much is it to get an extra point put in a room" it would have been nice if they had told me about a monthly charge to go with the installation charge. When I got the HD channels in the sales guy neglected to tell me about the €60 "activation charge"; I nearly blew up when I saw that one. Its so unprofessional its unreal.

Crikey, I'm wondering am I the lucky one with UPC. Have had nothing but friendliness & courtesy from all strands of UPC staff. When I got multiroom, there was already cabling in place, so no charge. I'm as mystified as you as to why they charge a monthly fee for the bloody point. At most the charge should have been a once-off one for non-standard installation. Indeed I'm sure most of UPC'c installers are self-employed, so the would happily install an extra point or 2 for a few notes. Puzzling:confused:
